Hannah glanced at her friend nervously tapping her fingers against the armrest.
Even agitated, Annabeth appeared to be confident. She had this natural strength that radiated off of her.
"You never mentioned you don't like flying," Hannah casually mentioned, trying to gauge Annabeth's reaction.
Hannah and Annabeth had met at the beginning of their senior year in high school. Annabeth desperately needed an art credit to graduate, and Hannah happened to be on the search for talent to appear in that semester's play. Somehow during the hours of practice together, they had become best friends.
Since then they could always be found together. In the library, at the local cafe, or in the park. Annabeth with her nose in her homework, and Hannah with her headphones, listening to Broadway shows and discussing her next audition. Annabeth found Hannah's passion endearing, and Hannah enjoyed Annabeth's random facts.
Even after spending months together though, Hannah didn't know much about Annabeth.
Hannah knew Annabeth had a rough child hood, and knew that Annabeth would wake up most nights in terror. Hannah knew about Annabeth's other friends. Piper hung out with them frequently, and once her boyfriend, Jason, was there. Hannah also knew about Percy Jackson, Annabeth's long-distance boyfriend in New York.
Percy was the reason Annabeth was next to her right now, anxiously waiting for the plane ride to end. When Hannah got the call back in New York, she begged Annabeth to come with her. The promise of seeing Percy made Annabeth agree rather quickly.
"Annabeth," Hannah repeated.
"Sorry?" Annabeth asked, turning to Hannah. At least for a moment, her fingers had stopped tapping.
"You scared of flying?" Hannah asked.
"Not scared," Annabeth corrected. "Just cautious. I've never loved flying, but Percy is terrified. I think it's rubbing off on me."
"Whatever," Hannah teases," the tap show your fingers are doing tell another story."
"Why are you even reading that book," Annabeth asks, changing the subject," don't you have a script to memorize?"
"I memorized it already," Hannah claimed proudly.
"Memorize some more and stop bugging me." Annabeth requested. She bunched up her jacket and tried to morph it into a pillow.
"Night sleeping beauty," Hannah said, turning back to her book.
"Night," Annabeth yawned.

"This is crazy!" Hannah exclaimed. She hurried excitedly through the terminal, turning impatiently when Annabeth did not keep up with her. "If you don't hurry," Hannah warned," I will start singing Hamilton at the top of my lungs. Right here. Right now."
"Don't you dare." Annabeth warned pointedly. "I'm coming."
They maneuvered their bags through the crowds, and hailed a taxi once they had exited the airport.
"Couldn't you get your boyfriend to pick us up?" Hannah complained as they climbed into the less than luxurious taxi.
"Percy doesn't know I'm coming," Annabeth reminded her.
"Where to?" the taxi driver asked.
"Sweet on America candy shop," Annabeth answered before Hannah could tell him the address.
"Why are we going to a candy shop?" Hannah asked angrily. "You know I'm staying away from sugar before my call back."
"I'm surprising Percy," Annabeth answered quickly.
