Cole looked at Melissa carefully. He took in her soft appearance, her dark eyes and hair hiding the true appearance of a bloodsucking creature. He then replayed the two moments he saw Michael and Melissa in the same area interacting with each other when it clicked in his mind.

"You're his lifemate, aren't you?" He asked her. She nodded hesitantly, watching the blade in his left hand. He noticed her gaze on his blade, and slid it back into the sheath on his lower back.

"Fine," He narrowed his eyes," I'll help you." He told them. Melissa sighed in relief, just as Cassie moved. She sat up slowly, looking at everyone in the room." What happened?" She asked them. Talia sat down in the chair beside her, smiling softly." What do you remember?" She asked her. Cassie looked at everyone, her eyes landing on Gracie and Cole who stood closely to one another.

"I remember the party. I met my ex and we were fighting over something. When I tried to move away from him, he grabbed my arm and the next thing I knew, I was pushed over the railing. I know Gracie merged with me, and we were fighting over something else as well when someone caught us. I don't know how, but I remember that. Then I heard gunshots above us, and then I blacked out." She looked at Talia with tears in her eyes.

"What happened? How did I get here?" She asked her.

"Melissa and Gracie brought you in. While of course taking a hostage." She casted a look at Cole who smiled mockingly towards the two of them.

James and Gracie nodded at each other subtly before he walked over to Cole, grabbing him by his handcuffs. He pulled him out of the room with Gracie trailing behind them quietly, the dangerous moment long forgotten.

Cassie looked at Talia as Melissa checked the monitor beside her." She's healing quite fast. Are you sure she's not...?" She asked Talia. She shook her head with a long look at the monitor," It must be because of her bond with Gracie. It must be strong." She said. Cassie wanted to roll her eyes at that.

...

Gracie chopped the carrots slowly, her thoughts clouded.

"What's got you so deep in thought?" Tessa asked as she moved the onions into the pot. Gracie looked up in surprise before taking in her surroundings." Sorry," she rubbed her neck unconsciously," I was just wondering about something." She said. Tessa nodded, splurging her to carry on.

"Do you mind if I ask you something?" She nodded.

"Do you have a lifemate?" She asked hesitantly and she froze. By now she would have thought Gracie knew about that, but with everything that just happened, it's understandable of how she never heard yet.

"I do. Zack is his name." She smiled as his face popped up into her mind. Gracie smiled happy for her." Does he live here?" She asked. Tessa shook her head." He lives in a flat in the city with my sister's mate." She placed the carrots next." Why?"

Tessa smiled," Gabriel, Madeleine's lifemate, is an engineer and owns a company of his own. Zack is a detective that helps the departments solve cases relating to the supernatural, and also helps to keep our secret safe from humans."

"How do you live like that? Without him?" Gracie asked as she stirred the food.

"It's difficult sometimes, but we manage. We have date nights every Friday evenings and I sleep every second weekend by him." She said while she began on dessert." What's bothering you like this, Gracie? Since meeting you, I've never seen you like this before."
