"Here's the boy!" the doctor announced, holding up a small crying infant. A few more pushes later, the doctor held up another crying baby, then handed it off to a nurse. "And here's the girl."
Adam ran his fingers through my hair.
"You did it Mi amor, you did it." "Can I hold them?"
The doctor's face turned into a scowl, and the nurse who was holding my children began to walk out. "Adam, where are they-" Adam was gone. Everyone in the room started disappearing, but I could still see the nurse walking and I could hear the faint cries. I pushed the operating table over and stumbled to the door, dropping from the dull pain between my legs.
"Give me my babies! Give me my babies!" I cried, pulling myself along the floor.
"Aaliyah! Wake up!" Adam yelled, shaking my shoulder. I opened my eyes, and my hands instantly flew to my stomach. I wanted to cry.
"My babies." Adam stroked my hair. "It was just a nightmare" he assured. "They took my babies away from me Adam. T-they just walked out with them, I couldn't get them" I stammered, trying to regain my breath.
"It was just a dream." I sat up and groaned. "W-what time is it?" "It's 1:35 in the morning, just go back to sleep." "No, I can't anymore. I'm hungry now." "Okay?" "Go get me something to eat please?" I asked politely. "Do we have any Reese's?" He got into the kitchen and turned the light on. "We don't have anymore." "Are you serious?" He walked into the room, and leaned against the door frame. "Dead."
"Can you go to the store and get some?" I pouted. "Aaliyah, it's one in the morning." I frowned. "Fine, then I'll go." "Babe, stop being stubborn. You can't wait until the morning. Like around nine o'clock when its not -30 degrees." I put on my furry, brown Uggs. "No, I want them now." He sighed. "Fine, I'll go pick some up, so you won't have to freeze to death."
I kissed his cheek.
"Love you" I sung. "I know." Adam put on some Timberlands and a thick jacket, and walked out of the apartment. I turned the tv one, watching Family Guy. During the show, a Chinese Restaurant appeared on the tv, showing all the delicious orange chicken. I could taste it now. I grabbed my phone and dialed Adam's number. "Yeah?" he answered. "I want some Chinese food, please." "What do you want?" "Some orange chicken, with white rice and broccoli." My mouth began to water. "Okay, I'll pick up some." "Thanks!"
Adam POV
I jogged down the steps and opened the door to "Wo Hop City", a small but nice Chinese restaurant. Their low prices attracted me the most. I opened the door, and a little bell rang. Warmth finally began to return to my body, after being out in the cold November air. Something that Aaliyah and I both agreed on; New York had terrible weather. I've been leaving in New York all my life, and I never got use to it.
The short Chinese man at the counter looked at me and smiled.
"Adam? What are you doing here so early?" "Girlfriend. Pregnancy. Cravings" I explained simply. "Ahh, understandable." "Let me get some orange chicken, with some white rice and broccoli. Make that two servings." He yelled something in Chinese through the window to the cooks in the back, then he turned back to me. "We'll have a new batch of orange chicken ready in a few minutes."
I slumped down in a seat and scrolled down through my phone on my Facebook. A small message appeared on the screen from Rico. I had was going to have to make a few drops tomorrow, after work. Selling drugs seemed like a terrible idea at first, but now with the money I'm making with my two other jobs, these children are going to be living the good life. I still need a new car, and a house, damn, and I bet my credit score is low as fuck.
"Here you go, Adam, nice and hot."
I stood up and paid for the food. "You should bring your girlfriend by one day" he suggested, "I want to meet the girl that actually tied you down!" I laughed at his joke. I had changed a lot from my ways in highschool. I went back out into the brisk November night and got into the car. Finally, I can go back home and get into my bed.

I held the bags out to Aaliyah and she snatched them out my hand.
"Yesss! Thanks baby!" she squealed, taking the container of Chinese food into the living room. She got settled in the couch and began eating in front of the tv. I swear this girl, sometimes... I thought, laughing and shaking my head. I got back into bed, exhausted from roaming around, but Aaliyah got her food, so it was cool. I tossed and turned, trying to fall asleep, but with no luck. I got up and went into the living room. "You're not sleep yet?" she asked. I shook my head and sat laid behind her. She nuzzled back against me.
"Babe I'm cold" she said. I grabbed the thick fleece throw over from on the back of the couch and through it over us both. I rubbed her protruding stomach.
"Goodnight" she whispered, as I finally began to fall asleep.
