School was the last place I had wanted to be on Monday, but I went regardless. I had Jake, Anna, Taylor and Maria all in my first hour, so it was a perfect start to my day. Anna did nothing but glare at me. Jake stuck by me though, keeping my mind off everything. Words don't come close to how thankful I am to him, or how much I owe him.

The rest of the day I had a mix of my small group in all of my classes. Anything I had with Brendon, I walked in, got my work and went to Mrs. Brennan's office. She didn't ask or pry to know what was going on, and I was grateful, because I was tired of telling the story. Every time I told it, I felt more and more like I had actually cheated on Brendon.

"You know, at some point you'll have to go back to class," Brennan said, looking at me over her glasses. "It's been a week since you've actually attended your third, fifth and eighth hours. I don't know how you're passing them without being in class, probably because they're easy, but I can't allow you to stay in here for the rest of the year. It makes other students feel like I'm picking favorites, which I'm definitely doing, but they can't know that."

I laughed at her commentary. "I know. I just can't bear the thought of going back. It's going to be hard to focus."

"Just a guess, but it's Brendon isn't it?" She asked.

"Yeah," I shrugged, masking the pain that blossomed in my chest. I had begun to feel better, but I wasn't completely over it. "Just a rough patch."

She nodded and hummed. "Do you need me to change your schedule?"

I shook my head. "No, I like my schedule. I just have to get over myself."

"That's the spirit," Brennan cheered.

The next day, I decided that I would go back to class the following week, but I would spend this weekend shopping. If Brendon was going to continue with his assault of glares, then he would have to glare at while I look good.

Friday after school, I went to leave for the mall, and Taylor coincidentally showed up right as I walked out the door. I turned around to walk back inside, but she yelled after me and caught up to where I was.

"What do you want?" I asked, crossing my arms and giving a drawn out sigh.

She rolled her eyes. "Listen, just because Anna's a bitch doesn't mean the rest of us are. Maria and I are worried about you. So is Jessi, and she barely knows what's going on."

I caught myself before I laughed. Jessi doesn't party; she's quite the homebody, and I don't have classes with her, but we're still acquaintances. Looking over my shoulder, I saw both of them sitting in Taylor's sleek red Nissan that she had surprisingly bought herself.

"Come on, Kendall. I don't see why you think we're on Anna's side. None of us have spoken to her since everything happened."

"Is this an intervention?" I asked jokingly. "Cause it feels like an intervention."

"I prefer an interruption of a downward spiral," Taylor corrected. "But that works too."

"Thank you," I smiled. Taylor flung herself on me and gave me a tight hug.

"I love you, Ken, we all do," she said girlishly. "What are you doing right now anyway?"

"Back at you," I nodded. "I'm going shopping."

"For?"

"Well, I have plenty of money saved up right now because I was planning on getting Brendon's birthday present, but I don't see it happening anymore. So I figured I'd go get some new clothes, makeup, hair stuff... whatever I need to make myself look good so he realizes what he lost."
