The time came for Brendon to leave. I drove him to the studio, where he and his band mates had agreed to leave from, to drop him off and say goodbye.

Dan, Nicole and Mike were loading stuff into the underbelly of the bus while I spoke with Brendon. He and I had put his stuff in the bus already before he gave me a short tour of the shuttle.

"I'm going to miss you," I pouted. I was on the verge of tears all morning. Mother Nature showed early, for one, and I didn't want Brendon to leave, for two.

"I know," he reminded me, "I knew after the first 15 times you said it."

"How are you feeling?" I asked.

"I feel okay. I think I'll be fine as long as I don't overdo it."

"Promise you won't?" He nodded. "Promise you'll let me know if something goes wrong?" He nodded again. "Promise you'll check in?" Another nod. I was about to say something else, but he covered my mouth.

"Baby, you're acting like I'm going to leave and forget you exist," he chuckled. "I'm going to be busy, yes, but I wouldn't dream of not speaking to you for even a week, let alone six months. Trust me, you'll hear from me often enough. Relax. It's not my first tour."

I took a deep breath as he released his palm from my mouth. I let my shoulders droop and shifted my weight some. I relaxed.

Dan ran into the side of Brendon and messed up his hair. "Don't worry Kendall. We'll take care of him. We'll make sure he gets his blankie after every show."

"You dick!" Brendon revolted, shoving him back. The two scrapped amidst their laughter for a minute before calling a truce.

"It's time to go!" Nicole yelled from the door of the bus. "We're gonna be late!"

"I love you," Brendon told me, then planted a kiss on my forehead and hugged me one more time.

"I love you too," I replied. "Travel safe. Check in when you can."

"Always baby," he grinned, shooting finger guns at me, then running off toward the bus. I rolled my eyes and waved as they departed.

And now, it was six months on my own. Instantaneously, I wish I would've gone with him, but I knew I probably wouldn't have liked it.

I went home that day and cleaned the whole house. The next day I did some yard work and raking. The day after that, I caught up on work.

That was my routine for a while. Brendon would FaceTime me every night, letting me know how the shows went and what he was doing. There was one night that he actually FaceTimed me from the stage.

I answered the call, seeing his face, with bright lights and screens behind him.

"Hey babe!" He yelled breathily. The crowd resonated with 'awe's."

"Are you performing?" I asked.

"I'm taking a short break," he replied. "The crowd wanted to say hello."

A camera showed on the screen, which was apparently the live feed to the screens behind Brendon.

"Oh, jeez," I mumbled. "Uh, hi guys!"

There was a response from the crowd which was mostly screams, but there were some people greeting me back.

Brendon took me off the screens. "Just checking in. I love you."

"I love you too, have a good rest of the show."

He smiled and hung up. My cheeks turned red, wondering if people really knew about Brendon and I. Sure, people had heard about the fiasco with Erin, but I wasn't completely sure that Brendon's fans knew about me.
