Remus was mindlessly hitting refresh for what seemed like all of eternity on a Friday afternoon.
He really needs that email.
Sirius, James, and Peter were all at work, doing all of their work related things. The house was eerily quiet, and it was quite uncomfortable, to be honest. So Remus was blasting the Parachutes album throughout the house, his personal favorite.
A notification popped up on his phone. He looked at it in hope, but it was only Sirius texting him.
Moony I'm being driven to insanity. Why must limited edition drinks exist. Hell, I've made 37 and I bet 90% of them were Instagrammed by basic teenaged girls.
Remus rolled his eyes. Sirius hated his job, but it's not like there were better alternatives.
He saw that James responded in the group chat. At least you don't have to awkwardly avoid eye contact all day.
It can't be that bad. Remus sent and instantly regretted it.
IT IS THAT BAD! James texted.
WHEN A FLOOD OF TEENS RUN TOWARDS YOU YOU'LL KNOW BAD!
Okay, my apologies, please calm down. I will learn soon enough though, as soon as I learn if I'm hired or not.
Remus hit refresh one more time.
One new email.
He clicked on it, and it was thankfully the email.
We have selected you to work a cashier job at Barnes and Noble.
Your hours will be from 10 am to 7 pm, with an hour lunch break, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
You will be paid 11.35 dollars an hour.
Signed,
Wendy Meadows, ManagerRemus looked over the email and looked over it again.
He got the job.
He walked over to the kitchen to get a slice of cake to celebrate.
It was 3:53 right now, Sirius and James would be home by 5, Peter would be home by 8.
He grabbed a book and ran into a fantasy world for a few hours.
~~~
Remus's reading was interrupted by the doorbell. James and Sirius were back.
"Hey Moony. You get the job?" Sirius asked while putting his coat away.
"I did, actually."
"Good job. Now you won't just be leeching off of our work."
"It was your choice to have me here."
James and Sirius shrugged, and had a look of agreement between them.
"You were the best option. It was either you or someone Pads over here was skeptical about."
"He was a cat person!"
"So what? I'm a cat person." James argued.
"But you're also a dog person Prongs." Sirius reminded. "He was a crazy cat person. Had 6 cats and expected us to allow them."
"I'm surprised you picked me."
"He was just creepy in general. Not because he's a cat person like Sirius says."
"Well, that was one of the reasons why we picked you instead."
Remus sat down on a bench in the entryway, as James and Sirius were still chatting.
