The Marauders (and Lily) wandered around the town that his parents lived in. Anaheim was pretty nice, it was right next to Disneyland, which was a definite upside. He used to go there all the time as a kid, so much that he got kind of sick of it by the time he was twelve.
Lily pointed to a scarf in the window of a shop. It was silky and a magenta-ish color, not something that Remus would imagine Lily would be interested in, seeing her in a leather jacket and ripped jean shorts. "Marlene would love that." She said, and snapped a photo of it. Remus remembered Marlene, one of Lily's two roommates.
"You should get it for her." Peter suggested.
Lily nodded. "Maybe I could find something for Pandora as well." She said, and walked inside of the little shop, the four others following.
Remus looked around. The store was pretty fancy, but it was mostly dressy stuff for girls, but there was a small section for gender neutral clothes like button down shirts and tees with the shop's logo.
Lily looked at the scarf that she was looking at. "Yeah, she would love this." Lily picked it up off of the mannequin, and held it up by the price tag, the rest of it falling into a ball of fabric on her other arm. "She could live without it." She said, and put it messily back on the mannequin it was resting on.
"How much is it?" James asked. Remus saw him put his hand in his back pocket, where his wallet was sticking out of.
"It was like thirty dollars for one scarf! This is why I don't bother to dress nice seventy percent of the time." She said. Remus was lucky that guy's clothing was pretty cheap compared to thirty dollars for a long scrap of fabric.
"And because you always look nice." James said, and took his hand out of his wallet. He rested his chin on Lily's bright red hair.
"You're such a sap." She said, and smiled at James. James kissed her hair.
"Let's go." Sirius said, and walked out of the shop. Remus, who was standing near the entryway, followed him. They walked along the streets, five pairs of feet hitting the concrete at different times.
"Hey, James." Sirius said, trying not to laugh, as they were crossing the street to another block. "The floor is lava."
"Fuck you, Sirius!" James broke off into a sprint across the street and towards the nearest building, and tried to jump up and grab onto it, sliding down, and the sitting on the floor. Sirius burst out laughed, and Remus went over to help James up.
"Thanks, Remus." He said.
They kept walking, and no more than two minutes later, James whispered to Sirius, "The floor is lava."
Sirius, looking around panicked, decided that the best thing to do was to jump on Remus' back. Remus instantly leaned back with the added 140 pounds to his back, and everyone around them started cracking up. "Please get off." Remus said.
"Okay, fine." Sirius said, and not even ten seconds later. "The floor is lava."
Remus rolled his eyes, but instead of lunging for the nearest bench or civilian in Sirius' case, sat down on the ground like the smartass he is.
"You're no fun." Sirius complained, but laughed, and held a hand out. Remus took it, and got up.
"Hey, guys, what do you think about lunch?" Lily asked, pointing to a sushi restaurant.
