The mid August heatwave was terrible this past week, and James' room was the only one that had air conditioning. So, Remus had to find alternative methods to keeping cool, which involved eating ice cubes and going around with the fewest amount of clothes possible. He was practicing a new song, which would hopefully be the last song in the album, so they could release it by ideally before Christmas.
It's been a couple weeks since they've been back from their break. Nothing much has changed, except for some reason Sirius has a harder time sleeping, and now tends to wander aimlessly around the house at night. Remus tends to hang out with him while he does and watch TV with him, since Remus doesn't sleep until around one in the morning, a bad sleeping habit he developed as a teenager and never grew out of it.
"Hey, Moons." Sirius yelled from the upstairs walkway. It almost sounded kind of nervous, which made Remus wonder what exactly was happening.
"Yeah?" Remus asked, looking up.
"Come up here, I need your help." He said. Remus sighed and took the laptop off of his lap, closing it most of the way, and headed upstairs, brushing his hand against the wall while walking up the carpeted steps.
Sirius was standing there, wearing a white button-down shirt and nice pants, along with an untied tie in his hand. "So, uhh, I'm going on a date with a cutie, one of my customers from Starbucks. And I honestly have no idea how to tie a tie, my parents always tied mine." He admitted.
Remus almost physically flinched. It felt like a punch straight to the gut. He tried to put on a smile, reminding himself that he had to be happy for Sirius. It probably looked crooked and fake, it felt crooked and fake for sure. "Uhh, good for you." He said, trying his best to sound normal. "Yeah, good for you. I'm assuming you want me to tie your tie?"
"Yep. You okay, Remus? You sound uncomfortable." Sirius asked, putting a hand on Remus' shoulder with a smile, as if he was trying to cheer Remus up.
Remus smiled weakly. "Yep, I'm totally fine." Remus said, and put the tie around the back of Sirius' neck, tying it in the front, focusing on looping the tie through itself. "There you go." He said once the tie was tied. It was a little messy, but Remus tried his best.
"Thanks, Moons." Sirius thanked, and smiled at Remus.
"All right, have fun. Call me if you need a ride home." Remus responded, and moved out of the way so Sirius could go downstairs. He would go downstairs as well to continue working on his music, but he just leaned against the mustard-colored half-wall and got lost in thought. The front door closed and Sirius was gone.

"So, how'd it go?" Remus asked, sipping a cup of hot chocolate on the couch as Sirius came home. He had a noticeable smile on his face, and he looked overjoyed.
"It went well." Sirius said with a smile.
There was a moment of silence. "Are you not going to tell me any details?" Remus asked.
"Well, he's cute, blonde, tall, and he's kinda nerdy, you'd like him a lot, actually." Sirius started. "We went out to eat at a restaurant in Newport, and we tried to find things the other'd like, I bought him a book and he got me a Coldplay CD." He said, holding up the A Rush Of Blood To The Head CD case.
Remus thought he already had that one, but if it made Sirius happy, so be it. "Any more dates in the future?" He wondered. He secretly hoped Sirius said no. But if Sirius said no, then that'd mean he'd be upset. And that's certainly not what Remus wanted.
"Yeah, hopefully one next week." Sirius said. "We're going to go see a movie, probably."
"I'm happy for you, Sirius." Remus said. He was happy for Sirius. Perhaps this crush'll fade, and he'll move on from it. Hopefully. "Tell me more about him."
