{ it doesn't feel right, i'm sorry! }

-

millie winced as the cameras flashed around her. she just wanted lunch, that's all.

she slumped in her seat, a tear hitting the plate.

the door opened again, and she glanced up to see... finn?

she gasped a little and his eyes widened as they met hers.

he looked around and walked over to her. "hey... how have you been?"

she shrugged. "okay, i guess. i haven't seen you... not since i got out. thanks for telling maddie to come, by the way."

he smiled. "yeah, you're welcome. and i missed you."

her smile faltered a little, and finn frowned.

"millie, if you don't want me to talk to you, I won't. okay? i am so sorry you can't remember. and they told me it was temporary amnesia. but you're not getting any better, are you?"

millie's eyes filled with tears. "can-can we talk outside? i'm not used to the," she gestured around and the people staring at them.

he sighed and nodded, and she took his arm and dragged him outside and behind the building, where they were left in silence.

"i can remember some things," she said suddenly. "it seems natural for me to be interviewed, and for people to take pictures with me. it seems natural to be around you. but there's something i'm not getting. i had a memory... and i was crying. and you were there. and i left. and i can't remember anything happy since then."

he nodded. "yeah. yeah. well..."

she looked into his eyes. "so... we were dating?"

his eyes widened and he nodded. "yeah. for a while during the filming of season three."

"w-what happened?" she asked timidly.

he sighed. "we broke up. that's the memory you saw. and then... we sort of got back together, but..." a tear slipped from his eye.

it hit millie suddenly. "and then... i had my accident."

he nodded. "yeah."

millie looked up at him, stepping a little closer. "can i... try something?"

he frowned and nodded, and gasped as she crashed her lips to his.

they didn't move, stuck together for a while, then she pulled away.

"it doesn't feel right. i'm so sorry." millie had tears leaking out of her eyes, running down her cold cheeks and clicking to the ground.

finn looked shocked still, and he reached out shakily and brushed her tears gently off her face.

"i will wait however long i need to for you, millie. i love you, and i have made so many mistakes in our relationship, but this won't be one of them. i will wait for you forever."

she breathed shakily, wrapping her arms around him and he kissed her head gently as rain started to fall around them.

her whisper was barely heard as it hailed around them, pattering the ground as the teens stayed put, their arms wrapped around each other.

"thank you,"

TWO MONTHS LATER.

finn sighed as he climbed the stairs to set.

it was time to go back to the love of his life.

who, didn't remember them dating and most certainly didn't love him back. who could remember certain things, but her temporary amnesia was not so temporary.

who... was currently dating a kid who got famous off a lip-syncing app? what's up with that?

he sighed as he entered the big room, greeting his friends. everyone had been nice enough to wait until millie recovered enough, and now ( after she had watched herself act on netflix and memorized the script ) was back to finish filming the season.

she entered the room, a smile lit up on her face, and greeted the other boys with big hugs.

sadie sat next to finn, a frown on her face as she watched. "i want my best friend back," she mumbled.

finn sighed. "and... i want my girlfriend back. but that's not going to happen. maybe one day they'll admit that it's not temporary amnesia."

sadie moved her bright red behind her shoulder with a sigh. "yeah.."

he frowned a little. he made it seem like he was losing so much, when millie didn't remember sadie at all.

"come here, sadie." finn extended his arms, and sadie let out a soft sob, crawling into his embrace quickly.

finn let his eyes wander back over to millie, who was looking at them now, her face carrying a confused expression. she tilted her head at finn. "is she okay?" she mouthed over to him.

finn shrugged and wiped away one of sadie's tears as she came back up, locking eye contact with millie. the two hadn't met again since millie screamed at sadie the first day in the hospital.

millie strolled across the room with a faint smile on her lips.

she held out her hand to sadie. "i'm millie. nice to meet you. well... you already met me. wait, you know my name's millie. ugh. forget about what i just said. i'm sorry about everything. can we be friends? again..."

sadie wiped away remaining tears, a smile forming on her face. "of course. and we can restart. i'm sadie."

millie hugged her tightly. "this feels... right." she said with a grin.

finn's heart dropped.

"it doesn't feel right... i'm so sorry."

he turned away and strolled outside, taking a deep gulp of air and trying not to cry.

she needed to remember.
