finn opened the door, his heart low. he couldn't wait any longer. millie hadn't come to talk to him, and he wanted to make things right.

"please, mills. i need to talk to you."

he opened the door, and gasped when he saw how white she was, blood was splattered across her chest as she coughed uncontrollably.

"finn," she croaked out, and he immediately took her in his arms, rocking her back and forth gently.

tears streamed down her sniffling face. "i'm so, so, sorry." she remembered what sadie had seared into her brain and stopped her tears, wiping them away and stiffing up, breaching our in another round of coughing.

finn took her face in his hands, and she grabbed them, shaking but refusing to cry any more. "i'm so so sorry, finn. i am the worst girlfriend ever. i don't know why it took me this long to realize it, but i will stop and i will make things right. i love you so much."

she burst out in aborning round of coughing, blood splattering her shirt, and finn pulled her close, shaking his head. "god, millie, don't be. i understand. it's okay. i love you."

she sighed and looked up at him again. "i promise i'll be better. i'm such an emotional wreck. i- need to apologize to sadie. and noah."

finn shook his head. "you're coughing up blood, millie. there'll be time for that later. just rest, okay? i'll see what we have for medicine."

millie nodded, and lay her head down on the pillow as she started to drift back into sleep.

gaten stepped back into the house, rain dripping off him, but a smile stuck on his face.

"where have you been?" noah demanded, grabbing his arm and yanking him into the living room, where everyone was gathered around the coffee table, with the exception of millie, who was sick in bed.

"i met a girl..." gaten trilled, but before he could talk finn interrupted him coldly.

"listen. we need to get out of this town. there's a disease. we've been researching it and it's bad."

"it's deathly." gaten said with a slight nod.

finn glanced at him and audibly gulped, shooting a glance towards the stairs which led to millie's room.

"let's get out of here," sadie nodded. gaten noticed with a frown that her checks were red and puffy.

"what happened sadie?" he asked, but caleb shook his head and he didn't pressure her further.

"pack the car. let's get everything in. we're leaving in half an hour." noah said and everyone nodded.

gaten's heart dropped like a stone. "wait!"

everyone looked at him in confusion.

"do you think we could stay for just a couple more days?" gaten pleaded, and finn shook his head firmly.

"we need to get millie to a hospital as soon as possible. she's coughing up blood, and barely talks."

gaten knocked on the door loudly, and it opened, a smile appearing on ginny's face.

"what can i do for you, sir?" she asked teasingly, but gaten's voice was serious when he asked, "do you want to get out of this town?"

"caleb, can we talk about this some other time?" sadie pleaded as the threw things into her bag hurriedly.

caleb grabbed her hand and pulled her up, pressing their lips together to calm her down before glancing around.

"i can't keep doing this, sadie. we need to make our relationship public. it's the best thing for us and everyone right now." he pleaded.

sadie shook her head. "no. it'll ruin everything we have. it'll be documented, and all the drama will ruin it. don't you see what's happened to millie and finn?"

caleb shook his head. "they got better. they had a lot of stress released from them by becoming open about their relationship. just please, sadie."

she bit her lip as she began to pack quickly again. "we can talk about it later. i'll think about it."

caleb rolled his eyes. "fine."

he exited the room, and sadie felt bad, but this really wasn't the time to think about their relationship.

"this is ginny."

noah arched an eyebrow as gaten held on to ginny's hand tightly. "she's coming with us."

"she is?" caleb asked confusedly. "how do you even know her?"

"i'm just somebody. stop asking questions. what can i do?" ginny asked swiftly.

"here, help me."

sadie and ginny exchanged a nod as ginny followed the other red head into the kitchen.

"what happened with you two?" noah asked caleb curiously.

he shrugged. "a lot, a lot happened. i want our relationship to become public."

millie started listening as finn carried her down the stairs.

"and she doesn't. and we're arguing about it. it's been a debate for a while now."

gaten patted him on the back. "you'll figure it out, buddy. i know you will."

caleb smiled, and finn hollered from the stairs, "everyone in the car! we have no time to waste!"

everyone didn't have time to worry about seating arrangements, hopping into the car and starting it as fast as they could, sadie exchanging a quick goodbye with her friend before hopping in, and they started to drive as fast as they could, heading right into the storm.

ONE MORE CHAPTER! thought i'd do a double update because i've been horrible at updates lately and idk when the finale will be out! i mashed two chapters together because i planned wrong and yeah.
