millie slipped on her exercise clothing, pulling her hair up into a ponytail and exiting the bathroom, grabbing her backpack and heading over to the door, smiling as finn kissed her cheek gently.

"you ready?" he asked, closing the door behind them, and they headed downstairs, clasping hands, millie's ponytail swishing around her head as they walked.

they met up with the other kids, and sadie, who looked very mad, started to complain again as they started towards the hiking trail. "god, why, why, are we doing this? i honestly don't understand the point of hiking, anyway."

millie shot her a look, and sadie rolled her eyes, but kept up with the group as they started up the hill. they decided to go for a hike, since the small town they had stopped in had nice weather, but was cloudy so it wasn't too hot.

millie let go of finn's hand as they walked, but their fingers still brushed together, which still sent shivers up millie's spine, even after a couple years.

she spotted sadie and caleb dragging behind he group, and spun around, pointing at them, staring daggers as she caught them touching hands.

sadie turned bright red, but caleb just smiled, grabbing her hand and squeezing it, and sadie turned even redder, but smiled, as the group continued to head up the winding trail.

"okay, so it should take us about an hour to get to the top," noah announced, glancing at his phone as they walked.

"sounds good, and i brought our lunch," gaten said, and finn nodded, smiling softly at millie, who tucked a loose strand of hair that fell out of her ponytail behind her ear with a smile.

"cut it out, lovebirds!" sadie screeched, and millie sent her a glare.

"one of these days, i'll say that to you and caleb, and you'll regret ever saying that to me," millie announced with a frown, and sadie stuck out her tongue, smiling at caleb.

"well, SOME of us don't have someone, so why don't you both cut it out," noah snapped, and finn chucked, glancing out over the trees.

-

when the first raindrops hit, they didn't think much of it. it was cloudy, and it made sense. it felt good on their sweaty bodies, and millie closed her eyes, letting the soft rain leak into her as she ate her food.

she brushed her hands against each other gently as she started to pack up with the other kids, as more rain started to pour down.

gaten looked a little worried. "we'd better hurry. down the hill is quicker, but if this rain gets bad it won't be very safe..."

they all nodded, and started down the hill as rain started to hail around them.

finn slid closer to millie as they heard thunder crack in the distance, and millie frowned as the noticed the fog rolling over the hills.

"that looks really bad," she muttered, hurrying up, with the other kids.

"god!" millie tripped over a rock, and held back tears as severe pain shot through her ankle.

"are you okay hon?" finn asked, leaning down next to her, worry crossing his face.

"my ankle," millie hissed, trying to put pressure on it. "i- think i- might've sprained it."

"god no, this is definitely not what we need right now.." noah said, glancing around as the hail came down even more, soaking all of their heads as more thunder and lightning cracked.

"we need to take shelter," caleb said, sadie attached to his hand.

finn nodded, scooping up millie in his arms, and she held back more tears as he carried her towards a cave like hole in the side of the rock.

they all huddled in, and finn set down millie gently, and she closed her eyes, holding back a scream as finn touched her ankle gently.

"oh no..." he gently whispered, trailing his fingers along the edge of her ankle, where it was already very puffy and red.

"this is bad, very bad," noah fretted, as finn kissed millie's forehead, whispering her reassuring things.

sadie was sitting with her head leaned against caleb's shoulder, her eyes closed, and gaten was staring out at the storm, a little worried.

-

finn carried millie's limp body down the mountain, she had passed out from the pain, but her heartbeat was steady.

it was very foggy, and the air was thick, but the rain had stopped and the group were heading down the mountain back to their hotel.

sadie was right next to caleb, holding his hand tightly, and gaten and noah both also looked nervous, as they hiked slowly down.

when they hit the bottom, finn carried millie in, and noah hurried to the front desk to ask for help.

sadie and caleb pressed their heads together, whispering, as gaten looked on.

-

finn leaned next to millie, his eyes filled with worry.

"i'm okay, finn. maybe you should eat something," she fretted, twisting his curly hair between her fingers.

"i'm just really worried, millie. it's storming outside again, and i don't want to be stuck here, especially with you injured, and," he sighed deeply as she gave him a glare.

"finn," she whispered, stroking her hand across his face. "it's gonna be okay..."

he nodded, pressing his lips against her forehead and letting them linger, and she closed her eyes briefly, feeling his love soak into her.

"i love you, millie bobby brown."

"i love you too, finn wolfhard."
