Mallory's POV

(~~time skip~~)

"Good morning." I rolled over and pair of eyes opened towards me. I felt one arm unwrap from around me. I smiled at the cute little kid in front of me. "Did you sleep good?"

"Yea, I did." Today is our first game. After we made up I guess in training camp we've been back to being buddies. We're rooming together for the tournament. Well some of the games.

We were in for a long trip. The qualifiers were a key process to winning. If we don't qualify everyone will be shocked. We're up against Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Gautemala, Haiti, Costa Rica.

"It's Haiti, surely you're not worried, so what's up?" I just shook my head. I'm just trying to think kid. I rolled out of bed and walked into the bathroom. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" She let out a sigh and shook her head. "Whatever, see you in a bit."

"Where are you going?" She mumbled something under her breath, but I couldn't completely hear her. "...Not like you probably even care." I put my hand on her shoulder and stopped her. "I'm just stressed out, I'll be fine, go get ready." She gave me a quick hug and left.

I walked down the hall to Christen room and knocked on her door. Tobin came and opened the door and smiled at me. "What's up Mal?"

"Nothing much, where's Christen?"

"Bathroom." I nodded my head and walked in. I plopped down on her bed and looked up at the ceiling thinking in silence in a few minutes until it was broken by Christen moving her head over mine.

"Whatcha doing?" I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head. "I've been asking myself that same question..." She had a small frown on her face. "Is this about Brooklyn?"

"What do you think is the answer?" She let out a sigh and nodded. "If you don't think she should have been forgiven then why did you do it?" I shook my head. That was just yet another question I couldn't answer myself.

"I've been trying to answer all the questions you're asking me, but I can't. I've been stuck. I love that kid, but she doesn't....Brooklyn doesn't know how to be normal, I don't know if that's the right word, but she's broken. She'll never be able to be that happy person. Can no one else on this team see that Brooklyn isn't okay? Even though she smiles she's not happy. She might say it, but when I watch her walk away it quickly falls back into a frown. Something's wrong with her."

"Many things are wrong with her, but we've already settled that. Isn't a team supposed to help you fix or be okay with you imperfections. Not just a team, but you're her friend. Mallory...she just needs to heal. She's-"

"A pain in the ass, yea I know-"

"Mallory! Come on, go get ready for the game."

I walked back to my room and grabbed my stuff. We were supposed to be down at the bus in twenty minutes, where is she? I looked over and noticed her stuff was gone. She might have gone down already?

I decided to walk down early. I grabbed my bag and went to the lobby to see two people with Brooklyn. I've met one of them before, but I forgot her name.

(A\N: okay so in the girl I had Melissa benoist as a character, and called her Kara, but then made her Melissa Benoist, I'm making her Kara, Kara Surreall from my other book the gifted.  So she is a made up character, not a famous actor.)

I walked over to Brooklyn and smiled. "Hey Mal, Kara, Haley this is Mallory, my teammate and my roommate right now. Mallory I think you've met Kara, but this is Haley, another one of my teammates. She played on my soccer team in Texas and we went to school together."

"It's nice to meet you, I'm a big fan of this team." Haley gave me a perfect smile, she was as perfect as Brooklyn. I need to go to Texas for awhile. "Are you going to the game today?"

"I got them VIP tickets."

"You did?!" The blonde girl wrapped her arms around Brooklyn and smiled. "You bet!"

"I can't wait!" She was ecstatic. Kara and Haley walked away for awhile to go to the bathroom. "So umm, she's been a friend of yours for a while?" She looked at me with a quirked eyebrow. "Yea, why do you ask like that?" I ahook my head and smiled. "No, I don't mean anything bad like that. She seems super nice, the older one is just much calmer..." She looked at me in disbelief. "Haley and I haven't got to see each other in a long time, she was one of my best friends when I was in Texas, why are- are you jealous?"

The realization hit her face fast. Of course I'm jealous, we finally made up and now she's bringing some new friend that obviously seem more than a friend. She broke up with Joey, she's single now, but maybe not for long.

"No, I just...I'll see you at the game." She shook her head and grabbed my arm. "Mal, don't be jealous, or mad, whatever you are okay? Please, we're in a goodish zone right now, let's keep it that way, I don't want this to effect our play, I won't be mad if you just tell me what's been bothering you."

"I just don't know if I should have forgiven you that early-"

"I broke up with Joey for you, I want to be friends, a good teammate, I wanna be good alright, let's just qualify and were off to the world cup, you and me winning the world cup for the firt time together."

"Yea, yea you're right I'm sorry, I'm excited to do this...with you." She smiled and walked away. "That looked like a good heartfelt moment." Julie walked behind me smiling. "Yeah. I haven't really got to talk to you about Zach's superbowl game, I watched it...I was there."

"It was great, a great moment for him and me...back to the point though, are you and Brooklyn good?"

"Yea were all good." We both smiled and walked to the bus.
