Alex's POV

"You weren't playing like you usually do, are you okay?" I stopped when I saw an unfamiliar face speaking to Brooklyn. She was kinda putting her down. This mysterious blonde girl was about three inches taller than her. She was fit, skinny, and all around had a nice body. My eyes shifted up towards her face to meet a dark pair of blue eyes. She had thick light brown eyebrows to go with her shoulder length blonde hair that seemed to be naturally wavy.

"I just...Haley do you remember when I had that really bad two weeks." The girl nodded snd looked at Brooklyn confused. "Are you saying this is just a weird thing like that?" Brooklyn shrugged her shoulders and they both looked at each other. I watched them stare at each other in silence for a few more moments before being startled by Kelley.

"Alex what are you- who is that...over there with Brooklyn." She pointed over at Haley and turned to me. I shrugged my shoulders and kept watching their odd facial expression that kept being exchanged between the two.

"Let's just go say hi." I shook my head. If Brooklyn is playing bad there has to be a reason behind it. I can't be between her and any more emotional distress moments. She's too unstable and I can't risk it.

"Well then how are we gonna find out?" I shrugged my shoulders and kept my gaze on the two. "You-you should go ask her. I'm gonna stay over here. I can't risk- nevermind."

"What would you be risking?" Kelley looked at me with an eyebrow quirked and squint. She turned her head and walked over to the two blowing off trying to figure out what I was about to say. Brooklyn put on a fake smile and started talking to Kelley. She introduced the girl to Kelley and then looked as if she was trying to get Kelley to leave.

Kelley took the hint and walked back over to me. "Her name is Haley. She used to be Brooklyn's soccer teammate in Texas. They went to the same school, but Haley is older."

"Ok cool." I didn't care much about that stuff. The bigger question of why is she here was set on my mind. This girl I've never met before showed up on a random day. I had a memory click into my head. I knew she looked slightly familiar. She was sitting next to Kara in the game. She knows Kara who is really close to Brooklyn.

"Alex-Alex!" My head snapped over to Kelley and I put on an awkward smile. "Sorry. I was just thinking about something." Kelley looked at me skeptical and crossed her arms. "Do you think she's the reason Brooklyn played odd?" I looked at Kelley confused and wrinkled my nose. "Let's go. I'm hungry."

Kelley and I walked past the two, but Brooklyn stopped us. "Haley I need to talk to Alex, but later okay?" She smiled and gave her quick hug. "Later, bye." She walked away without making eye contact with Kelley nor I. "Where are you two going?"

"Kelley and I are going to grab food, why?" Her gaze kept drifting to behind me and then back to me. "I just need to talk to you, later I guess." She rushed away towards the elevators and quickly disappeared. "That was odd, what does she need to talk to you about?" I shrugged my shoulders and looked at the place she went to. "Hell if I know...I don't know if I wanna know."

~~~~~
I caught Brooklyn's arm as she walked past. She cut her eyes back at me, but her face softened when she saw who it was. I released my hand from her arm and examined her facial expression. "I know I said I need to talk to you, but now is really not a good time Alex." She started to walk away, but I decided to follow her. "Are you okay? I don't wanna upset you, but you've been acting different and-"
"Playing different...I know, I just am feeling weird. Do you ever have that feeling where you're not as good as you were? Like something just left from you? I don't know, I'm probably just in a little slump, but yea...Haley and Kara came out to see me and I sucked yesterday, don't say I didn't because we both know I did. I don't know what's wrong with me...a small part of me thinks I need to take a break. I'm sorry I didn't mean to ramble on-I have to go." She rushed away towards the hotel door and quickly disappeared yet again.
I don't know what's wrong with her, but it's really messing with her. She isn't usually tense like she was just now, nor does she ever ramble on like that. She always wanted to be around Mallory, Christen, Julie and I, but she's been so distant from everyone lately and it's been disappointing. I'm trying now to remember when it started.
~~~~FLASHBACK~~~~

"Are you ever scared that one day...one day everything will change, but not in a good way. Everything goes wrong, everything goes the opposite of how it should...I've lived that day too many times."

I wrapped my arms around each side of her and smiled. I placed a kiss on her forehead and rested my head on hers. "I can only do so much, but if I can...I'll keep that from happening."

"I know...you and Christen are something special, you're not just the blue eyed girl from diamond bar who plays soccer, some people need to see that."

~~~~~END~~~~~
What if she meant something else? By everything changing did she mean her play or her life? Maybe somethings happened that she just hasn't told me about? I can't even think of the reason why she's been so odd and it's been driving me crazy. I've been sitting here for an hour thinking. I looked at the clock as time kept ticking past and decided I should probably get ready for dinner. Maybe I can talk to her then.
