Alex's POV

I walked Mallory up to her room, hoping I would find Brooklyn alone, but yet again the same blonde was beside her. Brooklyn's eyes peacefully laid shut as her head rested on the girl's stomach. She hadn't looked at us yet. She intently read something across her phone. She took a deep breath before locking her phone and looking up at us.

"Oh...hey." The more I talked to Haley she seemed pretty laid back. She was a junior. She had lived in Texas, but is moving to Georgia to play for that college.

"Hey, has she been asleep long?" She shook her head looked down at her. Her shirt had been pressed up, so Brooklyn's face sat on the soft skin of her toned stomach.

She had mentioned that Haley and her would play and workout together and it was visible. It would show through on both of them. Of course Haley wasn't nearly as tone as Brooklyn in the upper half of her body, but when it came to legs she was slightly better than Brooklyn, maybe because she was taller?

Her phone lit up again and she started to shift. "I have to go, if Brooklyn wakes up tell her I left to go take Kara to the airport." Mallory and I both nodded our heads as we watched her walk out of the room. Mallory waited until she was fully out the door when she turned to me.

"I still don't know if I like her something feels off about her...like she just...I don't know." She shrugged her shoulders and sat on the edge of the bed. "Could you possibly be jealous and not know?" Mallory looked at me shocked that I would even ask the question, but it was a question that need to be answered. It's been on my mind for awhile. We've won all of our games so far with one left. She needs to completely forgive or whatever, but she needs to make up and fix things entirely with Brooklyn.

 "I wanna fix things with her. That's what needs to be done." I nodded my head at Mallory's decision. She might be 18, but she's mature. "Good, get some sleep okay? We have to be at practice tomorrow. We play Costa Rica the following day to finish out the tournament.

~~~~~~~~~~~
"I really really need to talk to you. Like now, I'm sorry for the abruptness, but like we need to talk now." Haley came to me in a quiet panic. Last time I saw her was yesterday when she was with Brooklyn. "What's wrong?"
She pulled me away from everyone around and looked at her hands. "I wasn't actually just taking Kara to the airport...Brooklyn's parents...they got shot, her mom is dead and her dad- he isn't looking too good, I'm really worried about her. I can't tell her before the game, but- I can't I need your help-"
"Hey Haley calm down...so is he going to die too?" She nodded and bit her lip as she looked away. "Can-can you tell her?" I looked down at my feet. I've always been there for her, I've known about the things that happened in her past. She wasn't a stable person then, she's not going to be now either.
"I'm gonna talk to Christen about this after the game. Do you wanna be there....?" She kept her eyes down and shook her head. "I can't...see her like that." She's right. I don't honestly know if I can either.
~~~~~~~

We won the last game. We weren't leaving today, nor tomorrow, but in four days. I have an idea, that'll change my lives forever. "Christen, can I talk to you?"

"Yea, What's up Alex?" Christen walked over and folded her arms. I couldn't look her in the eyes. Something just felt wrong. "Alex are you okay?"

"Brooklyn's parents are dead and she doesn't know...I can't tell her." Christen looked at me shocked. She didn't expect this to happen. Who is unlucky enough to have three sets of parents die. Who is brace enough to adopt a girl who has been through this?

"I also have something else...I need you to tell her, but I plan on..."

Brooklyn's POV

"Hey Christen, What's up?"

She looked at me with sadness in her eyes. "Let's go on a walk..I need to talk to you."

"Yea sure let me grab my bag." She nodded and waited by the door. We walked out and went to the park. "Why did you wanna go on a walk, what do you need to talk about?"

"Brooklyn...let's go sit down." She was starting to worry me. Was something wrong? I looked at her puzzled and she nodded her head. "I really don't wanna be the one telling you this, but I feel that it's right. Brooklyn this team loves you, and we'll always be here for you."

"Okay, and?" She fidgeted with her hands as she looked away from me. "There's no easy way to say this...your parents- your parents were- were umm they were shot. They're dead." I felt my head start to spin then I slowly felt my body fall as darkness took over me.

~~~~~~
I felt a strong pounding feeling in my head as I woke up in my bed. I sat up and saw a note on my nightstand. 'Brooklyn it wasn't a dream of course this is hard to say in person, but your parents are dead. They were shot and I will say this...I know who is adopting you. I know them quite well and I know that you'll be happy, eventually. I know this is hard to read, and process, but I believe in you, you'll get through it.'
I felt tears fall onto my cheeks. The tears ran all the way down my face. I'm not an orphan, but my parents are dead. I was confused, sad, worried. Is Christen adopting me?
If she is, it would make the most sense. 'She's my mom.' The feeling came back, not nearly as strong as last time, but not having my parents felt odd. I also knew one other thing. I just inherited 2/3 of a giant rich company.
Thoughts were flying through my head.
