~ Kaiden's POV ~

I laid on my bed, staring at the flyer in my hand.

'WINTER CARNIVAL!
Rides, food and prizes!
2 weeks only, admission fee: $5'

It said with a snowy theme. The sunset carnival comes around every winter near the end when snow starts to melt and the pressure of school looks overheard. It's just a massive carnival with corny rides, over priced food and a shit ton of people. I remember my dad taking me to it for a couple of years until he got busy.
My mum burst into my room as usual, Lucy trailing behind her with a slight pout.

"Kaiden!" She leapt onto my bed, snuggling into my chest and glaring at my mum.
"Kaiden's my new mummy"

"Oh how tragic" she replied sarcastically, I could hear the fake apathy in her voice.
"I lost my little girl"

"Yes you did..... Willow" Lucy hissed her name. I could tell mum was having trouble holding in her laughter at Lucy's pouting face.

"I never thought my son would become a mummy at 17"

"What do you want?" I asked, folding the paper. Mum saw, she snatched it out of my hand making me jump.

"Winter carnival?" She read,
"You inviting Felix?"

"Why would you immediately think of him?" I snapped,
"I might even be taking Braydon...."

"First of all, Braydon is in Australia" she said.
"And Skye's visiting her family in California"
God damn mums ability to listen to me complain about people going somewhere for Christmas holidays.
"Besides, you have a crush on Felix"

"Wha-?" I spluttered, looking at her with wide eyes. A blush starting to creep up my neck.
"I-I do not! I'm not gay"

"Uh-huh" my mum said with no belief.
"Let me look up the definition of 'love'." She whipped out her phone and sat on my bed. Lucy shuffled further away and towards me but Mum didn't seem to care.

"Here we go, 'a strong affection to someone. Love is when you think about the person, want to be with that person and hold deep emotional bonds with the person'." She read before putting her phone down.
"You always talk of him, I see you on the phone with him and you're the happiest you've ever been and you are so relaxed and fond of him"

"Kaiden likes Felix! Kaiden likes Felix!" Lucy chanted in a sing-song voice.

"No I don't" I snapped,
"I like girls!"

"Girls like Skye?" Mum asked raising an eyebrow. I stared at her wide eyed and she knew she was right. I never felt an attraction to Skye, I never wanted to spend time with her as much as I did with Felix.

"But.... Felix.." I felt my heart jump at his name slightly. I put my head in my hands,
"Oh god" I muttered. I felt mum pat my back,

"It doesn't matter if you like girls or guys, you're still Kaiden" she said. I didn't want to admit it but everything pointed to me liking Felix. But I can't like him, he's only a friend.
My phone buzzed, I unconsciously hoped it was Felix. I cursed my brain but saw it was Braydon.

"Yo dude!" His voice cried,
"Skye and I are back early. You wanna go with me to the carnival? Skye and her friend are tagging along too"

"Uh, no thanks" I said. My mother smiled,
"You guys have fun though. How was Australia?"

"Hot" he replied with a chuckle.
"Gotta go unpack now, later" he hung up.

"Kaiden has a crush" she said when I hung up. I rolled my eyes,
