- Felix's POV -
When we got out of hospital, it took me a bit to work out how to walk without bumping into my side. Apparently, everyone at school heard about us. Now they know we're dating and many are protecting us, going after the ones who say anything. Kaiden and I found ourselves in the library again one Thursday when Melissa busted in with Hector whose been avoiding me.
"Felix!"
"Ssh!" The librarian scolded her as she marched to our table where I was trying to read 'Dear Evan Hansen' while Kaiden doodled on his maths book.
"You haven't been to practice" she said, sitting across from us.
"I've got an injury mind you" I retorted, gesturing to the bandages still on my eye. I've had to wear contacts instead of glasses and they were pissing me off.
"Our tournament is tomorrow" she stated,
"Please don't drag us down! Kenzie and I have worked hard for this and this'll be our last attempt. We all graduate this year"
"Okay okay, I got it. Just tell them not to put the questions on the left"
Kaiden snorted, Melissa sighed.
"We meet is the gym at 3, it starts at 4" Melissa said.
"We have a final practice after school in the math room with the teacher, please come"
I nodded which satisfied her,
"I've got to go, the council starting to organise prom. Any suggestions?"
"Don't have it"
She raised an eyebrow,
"Fine, what about black and white?"
"Some girls might dislike the limited colour" Hector said,
"I'll bring it up with them though, thanks" and she marched off. Hector stayed behind,
"Does uh, he know?" He jerked his head at Kaiden who had started to doodle on my arm.
"Yes, he is in fact in that photo" I said,
"He knows everything about- will you stop drawing dicks on my arm?"
"No" he replied childishly, I rolled my eyes as Hector walked off with his phone.

"Mr Vantor!" The head of the maths department, Mr Shabbin called. Everyone called him 'Mr Shagging' because of rumours of adultery.
"What is the answer to number seven?"
"Uh.... 4 to the power of 9..?" I said,
"Half a point. 4.7 to the power of 9. You need to be precise" he said scribbling on the whiteboard in an erratic way. Melissa was up there too, conversing with him and helping him.
"Come on Felix, step it up!" Melissa said,
"We have only 20 minutes left before we meet!"
"Wouldn't it be fine if we're a little late?" Kenzie asked quietly, she flinched when Melissa turned her angry eyes onto her.
"The earlier the better! We need to scope out the competition!" Melissa practically yelled, Kenzie sunk lower in her seat with a small whimper.
"I'm sorry for scaring you but that's the way it has to be!"
"Your too late Melissa" Hector walked in with a cup of coffee from the cafe near the school.
"They're already here"
"Damn" she cursed,
"Next year, we must leave 40 minutes earlier" Mr Shaggin said,
"All four of you, get out there and make me proud!"
"Aye aye teach!" Melissa said before packing away her stuff, all I had to do was throw my pen and paper in my bag before following the group to the gym. The gym had only a few students, it was mostly parents of the people participating. Kaiden was in the crowd, he smiled once he saw me.
There was two tables set up across from each other, a white board in the middle. The prep school sat across from us, clearly judging the school and lack of money. They all wore matching navy blue and candy apple red blazers with a school emblem on their chest. The 3 girls wore knee length black skirts while the boy wore full length black dress pants. I felt underdressed with my faded out maroon hoodie and jeans. We took our seats, a member of the admin write the questions on the board. We would converse with the team, writing down our working out before buzzing in and writing it on the board. Melissa was on fire but she basically lead the team.
"Correct!" The admin lady said, scattered applause came from the audience as the girl sat down.
"That's 6 to 5 for Collingswood"
"We're losing" Melissa groaned,
"Relax, we're not even at halfway" Kenzie comforted. Hector was silent, he has been for a while now. Melissa sighed,
"I'm so sorry guys" she apologised,
"Let's win this"
"Next question-"
The bored looking lady was interrupted by a loud noise that I've recognised so many times. A police siren, red and blue flashed outside in the parking lot. A lot of red and blue. My heart raced, people who were here for after school activities poked their heads out, including us. In the car park, in front of the gym, sat a whole police squad. Someone I recognised immediately stood behind the bullet proof door with a megaphone.
"FELIX VANTOR. COME OUT SLOWLY AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR" Connor yelled, he actually spoke and wore a police uniform. Beside him sat Annalise, a broad smile on her face but she too wore a uniform. I turned and saw my team mates look at me with wide eyes.
"What the fuck did you do Felix?" Kenzie hissed, surprising me.
"Be careful" Hector called, backing away from me,
"You-" I started.
"Felix... I-I had to" he muttered,
"I had to tell Annalise I knew you. She and her partner demanded information and..."
"What's going on?" Melissa asked as Kaiden walked up.
"Felix..." he looked scared,
"My dad... he's out there.."
I couldn't run, I couldn't hide.
"I'm sorry"
"COME OUT NOW OR WE WILL REMOVE YOU BY FORCE" Connor called. I walked out the gym, my hands in the air. All police guns were pointed at me, students watched from the windows.
"FELIX VANTOR. YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR STREET FIGHTING UNDER THE GUISE OF RAZOR, GANG RELATED ACTIVITY, DRUG SELLING AND THE TWO RECENT MURDERS"" Connor yelled. It was as if everything was in slow motion, their voices becoming just a dull ring. Kaiden's father held a look of hurt and betrayal on his face before he showed extreme anger. He slammed me into the police car hood, I turned my head so I could actually see my boyfriend watch me sadly from the gym. He slapped a pair of handcuffs on me, grabbing my hair and pulling it up so he face was next to my ear.
"You keep away from my son you bastard" he snarled, I could only hear him faintly through the pounding in my ears. I watched Kaiden run towards me before being held back by two cops. His father yelled at him but nothing registered as I was shoved into the back of a police cruiser.
This was the end for me.
