~ Kaiden's POV ~

The next day, I couldn't believe what the doctors saying. They came into my room with an urgent look on their faces. My mother and father (who took some time off from hunting Razor) were in the room with me when two doctors came in followed by a nurse.

"Mr Smith?" One asked, I nodded.
"I'm sorry to say but we need to get you in surgery right away"

"What? Why?" My mums eyes widened, her head snapped to meet the doctors eyes.

"It's unfortunate but your son has ripped the tendon in his knees. We would've put him in ICU last night but we had a lot of upper level patients" the doctor explained,
"It'll require surgery, physical therapy and..." he glanced at the other doctor who looked glum.

"It may take you a long time to be able to play basketball and even when you do, you won't be at the level you are at now"
That hit me like a truck, I could never play basketball again? But basketball was my life, it was my one ticket into college. I took a few deep breaths, a lot of star athletes get major injuries. Then again, they actually start their careers before it ends.

"So he'll never play basketball again?" My dad asked,

"He can just not now"the doctor replied,
"The nurse will prepare you for surgery" the red headed nurse shuffled past the doctors and began fiddling with stuff as they walk out. My mother gave me a kiss and hug, even my father gave me a squeeze. The only thought I could muster was the fact that my whole future was destroyed.

When I awake from surgery, I was back in my room. I was drowsy and felt sick, my leg hooked up and in a cast. I felt warmth in my hand and I turned to see Felix holding my hand. His head rested on the bed and he was sleeping soundly. In the other corner, I heard a loud snore and saw Braydon curled up on a plastic chair. I stayed silent and watched them, I watched how Felix's eyebrows creased in discomfort and how Braydon moved suddenly, rolling and falling off the chair. He landed with a thud and jumped up startled

"The answer is 32 Mrs Jones!" He cried, I let out a laugh, waking up Felix.

"WHOSE THERE?!" He yelled jumping into a fighting stance. At that moment, the nurse walked in. She glanced around the room; Braydon on the floor looking confused, Felix in a fighting stance and me, laughing so hard nothing came out. She coughed, gaining our attention. Felix lowered his stance,

"Kaiden, your parents will be here within 15 minutes to check you out" she said curtly before walking out.

"Well, I drove here so I'll leave now" Felix said, straightening his glasses.

"I caught a bus so I'm carpooling with you" Braydon added, Felix shuffled nervously. He looked like he wanted something before he walked to the door.

"Bye Kaiden" he called as he walked off. I wanted nothing more then to run after him, scoop him into my arms for a hug. But I couldn't move, my leg felt uncomfortable.
It was a blur by the time my parents came, I found myself back at home on the couch.

"You gonna be alright down here Kaiden?" My mother asked, we had a small spare room down here filled with junk. She and Lucy have spent the last half and hour clearing the floor space and the single bed that was in there.

"I'm fine, really" I assured her, leaning on my crutches. I hated these things, I hated not having two feet on the ground. She sighed,

"Do you want to watch a movie?" I nodded, along with Lucy. We all ended up sitting in front of the TV eating dinner and watching a Disney movie. Lucy fell asleep, my mother carried her up the stairs to her bed once the movie finished but not before giving me a kiss on the forehead.
