Prologue: Era of Peace

Hello there. It's me, Y/N, or as my official title states, Princess Y/N of Hyrule. I've been the princess ever since I can remember. My father, the king, and Impa, the captain of the guards, both care very much for me and are willing to put my safety first above their own. Firstly, because I am the princess, and secondly, because I possess the Triforce of Wisdom, one of the three pieces of the Triforce, a powerful tool that, in the hands of a kind soul, offers them the power to spread light and love across Hyrule, and in the hands of a dark soul, allows the holder to take over Hyrule and spread darkness across it. There are two other known pieces: Power and Courage. The one who holds the Triforce of Power is the Demon King, Ganondorf, though he had been sealed away long ago when the fighting had ended thanks to the Master Sword, otherwise known as the "Blade of Evil's Bane." Speaking of which, the holder of the Triforce of Courage is the Hero of Legend, also known as Link, my best friend. We've been friends ever since we were children. He would always come to see me at the castle and sometimes we'd sneak out together to have our own adventures. But we're now grown up. I have become the princess that I was destined to be, and Link has become the hero that he was destined to be. He had pulled the Master Sword from its pedestal and used it to banish all evil and slay the Demon King.

All that had occurred a year ago. An era of peace has finally arrived. There have been countless battles in the past years, and Hyrule has suffered greatly. The kingdom was now rebuilt and, feeling that the darkness was now gone forever, the citizens couldn't be happier. Though unfortunately, for all of us, that peace would be short-lived as dark clouds began closing in. What I didn't know is that my decision would determine Hyrule's fate...

First off, you are replacing Princess Zelda in the story because reasons. :3

Second, I, sadly, haven't seen many stories with Vaati in it. Kinda sad since he is one of my favorite characters, so I decided to write one up myself based on the old timing tale of Beauty and the Beast.
