Vaati's Pov.
It's been a few days since my angry statement, and Y/N hadn't come out of her room since then. I tried to call her when it was time to eat, but she still wouldn't come out. I had my servants bringing her some food, though told me that she told them that she didn't want any. I would always take it back and leave it at her door, in case she changed her mind, but she never did. Whenever I passed by her room, I would hear either nothing but silence or crying. It made me feel guilty. I had never felt so bad for yelling at someone in my entire life, and I'm an evil sorcerer, so that's saying something. But the fact that she liked that... "hero" guy angered me. She was supposed to be my bride. My future wife, though all she thinks about is him. She's probably hoping that he'll come barging into the castle and rescue her before taking her away with him or something.
"Um, sir... Are you alright?" One of my servants asks. I hadn't noticed, but I was running my sharp nails over the table I was sitting it, which left some scratch marks on it. I snap out of my thoughts and stand up from my chair.
"I'm fine. Go check on my bride and tell me how she's doing." I respond coldly. The large-eye bat nods and quickly flies off. No wonder Y/N was afraid of me. Even my own servants fear me. I sigh, trying to think of a way that I could make her see me differently.
"What do girls like these days?" I ponder aloud.
Y/N's Pov.
I haven't come out of my room in days. I've barely eaten and barely slept, and I could feel my body getting weaker already. I could hear Vaati or one of his servants at times walking past my room and try to stay quiet, though that was hard as at times I would still cry as I missed my home, my family, and my dear friend. The only good part about being here was that no one, not even Vaati had entered my room at all since I practically locked myself inside. Ever since Vaati's angry statement, I had been having terrible nightmares of him destroying Hyrule and everyone I cared about before kidnapping me away. Tonight was no exception...
*in dream*
"No! Stop this Vaati!" I cried out in terror as my kingdom was consumed with monsters. I turn around and run as fast as I can away from the oncoming clouds and whirlwinds, obvious who's controlling them. I run all the way to the castle and shut the door behind me as I catch my breath. Once I turn around, I freeze at the sight. Everyone in the castle had been turned to stone, even my father. I hear a piercing screech coming from the outside of the castle. I recognized that voice...
"Link!" I call out as I run towards the source of the voice. Once I reach the garden outside, I feel my breath caught in my throat as time seems to stop. There was Link... Being killed by Vaati, who looked different though... He was taller... and appeared more evil... Link collapses on the ground as his wounds bleed out, leaving him motionless. Vaati's eyes shift to me, and I can feel shivers run up my spine. His eyes weren't like before. They were fully a dark, ominous red color, with only the pupils glowing. I take a step back before trying to run away through the door quickly slams behind me, making me jump.
"You cannot escape me. You are to marry me after all." Vaati replies with a toothy smirk as he grabbed me. I try to pull away from him, though he keeps a tight grip on me, his nails much sharper now.
"Let me go! Get away! Stop!" I cry out in vain.
*back to reality*
"Let me go... Get away... Stop... No! AH!!" I scream and gasp as I quickly shot up, awake and breathing heavily. I look around the room quickly, seeing that I was still in the Wind Palace. I sigh, relieved that it was all a dream. Not even a second later, a large gust of wind blows into my room and Vaati appears by my bed, a worried look on his face.
"Are you alright? I heard you scream. Did someone break in? Did they hurt you?!" Vaati throws all these questions at me, making me yelp in both surprise and shock. Vaati sounded... concerned? I tilt my head slightly in confusion, making Vaati stop his rambling and raise an eyebrow.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asks, now sounding confused.
"Nothing, it's just that..." I start, hesitating for a moment "You sounded very worried about me.."
"Of course I was worried about you! I was worried that you were in danger or hurt or-" He stops when he notices the look of fear growing on my face from his yelling.
"Sorry... I didn't mean to yell.." He responds, much quieter than before as he hesitantly sits down on the edge of my bed. It was my turn to be confused again. He sounded really sincere now. Not cocky or full of himself like he was before.
"It's... It's alright." I reply. There is a moment of silence between us before Vaati speaks up again.
"Why did you scream though?"
"I... had a nightmare." I respond hesitantly. I avert his gaze as I remember what it was about. Vaati look at me sorrowfully before sighing.
"Was your nightmare about me?" I quickly look back to Vaati, seeing that he was now turned away from me, though still keeping his sad eyes on me. I couldn't help but feel bad as I slowly nodded my head, knowing that I couldn't lie. He then shifts his eyes away from me before closing them as he sighs.
"Sorry. I won't bother you if that's what your nightmares were about." He stands up, about to head to the door. Almost as if on instinct, I grabbed Vaati's arm to stop him, which confused him.
"Don't go. I... I don't want to be alone..." I say.
"I would think that the creature from your nightmares would be the last who you would like to see." Vaati replies as he tries to walk off again, though I tighten my grasp a bit on his arm.
"But you're not the one from my nightmares." I respond, which surprised Vaati as he turns to look at me. "He may look like you, but he's not. That creature was a monster, but you... you're not." I say, to which Vaati still looks at me with shock on his face. I even surprised myself when I said that. He sighs, giving up as he sat back down on the edge of my bed.
"Alright, I'll stay. I can't leave you like this anyways." He responds, to which a small smile forms on my face. I realize that I haven't let go of Vaati's arm yet and quickly pull my hand back, feeling a slight blush form on my cheeks.
"T-Thank you." I reply, averting his gaze once more. From the corner of my eyes though, I could see Vaati smile a bit.
"Anything for you."
