3rd Person's Pov.
"Y/N!!!" Both Vaati and Link's voice cry out at the same time as they witnessed the dark energy fly through her chest. Link quickly caught her before she fell to the ground, lying unconscious in his arms.
"Y/N, wake up!" Link shakes her a bit, not wanting to believe what had happened. Y/N doesn't respond, doesn't stir, doesn't breathe... No blood had spilled from her wound either. It's like the attack hurt her on the inside. Link continues to shake her, begging her, his best friend, to wake up from her eternal slumber.
Vaati, on the other hand, didn't move. His whole body was frozen in his spot. All the storm clouds and storms had suddenly stopped moving, appearing as if time itself had stopped. The wind mage falls down on his knees, his eyes still widened in shock from what he had just done. He held up his shaking hands, looking at them. His whole body was trembling. He felt as if a part of his heart had just been ripped out of his chest. He had never felt such sadness and despair before, not even when Y/N left him... No... This pain was far worst... He just hurt, he just killed the only person who ever cared about him. The only person who never feared him. The only person who might have loved him if he hadn't done what he just did... Vaati feels the darkness drain from him as he returns back to his normal form. A soft breeze rolls by, making his magic cap fall off his head, but he didn't care. It felt like his whole world had stopped. He looks back up at the two of them, seeing Link hugging Y/N tightly, tears spilling out of his eyes. Vaati brings himself to stand up, stumbling a bit from the shock, feeling tears form in his eyes as well. He slowly walks over to them. Link hears him walking towards them and holds Y/N tightly in defense, but then notices something that surprises him. He could tell that the Wind Sorcerer regretted his actions simply by looking at him. He staggered as he walked, clutching his chest where his heart would be, and had the saddest look on his face that would make even the darkest of monsters shed a tear. Vaati collapses on her knees once more as he was merely steps away from them, hiding his face with a hand, but it was evident that he was crying. Link looks back down to Y/N, speaking in a soft voice.
"You really did love her, didn't you?" Vaati doesn't respond, simply nodding his head a bit. Link stands up, still holding Y/N in his arms and walks over to Vaati. He hesitates for a moment at first before holding her out to him.
"I think she loved you as well, so you should be the one holding her now, not me." He says. Vaati slowly takes her in his arms, worried for a moment that he might harm her again, but it wouldn't matter anyway. His beloved once-to-be bride was gone... He places a hand on her cheek, lifting her pale face to look up at him.
"Y/N... I'm so, so sorry... This is all my fault..." Vaati begins, the tears rolling down his cheeks and falling onto Y/N's face, "I did this to you... I was selfish, I wanted you all to myself... It was because of my selfishness that you're now..." He couldn't even bring himself to say the word. He held her close to him. At that moment, Vaati regretted everything... Losing control, spending time with Y/N, and even kidnapping her from the beginning. If none of these things had ever happened, Y/N would've still been alive now and be living a happy life, he thinks."I'd take back everything I ever did if I could... I love you, Y/N... I wish you weren't gone..." Vaati whispers. At that very moment, his red gem in his cap that had been laying away from the trio begins to glow before his whole hat lights up in a purple glow. The sparks fly from it and surround around Y/N, surprising both males. The glow fades after a moment and the Magic Cap returns back to its original self. The storm clouds fade, as do the vicious tornadoes that had been attacking the town moments ago. The two males continue looking to Y/N. At first, nothing happens, the only sound is the wind blowing past them. Then, like a sudden thunderbolt, Y/N's hand twitches, making the two gasp in shock. The young princess slowly opens her eyes, looking up at the wind mage and smiles softly. She then says the four words that he never thought he'd ever heard her say.
"I love you too." Vaati's eyes widen as he felt like his heart had suddenly burst from his chest, but whether it would be from happiness or shock, he didn't know.
"But Y/N, I-" Before he could finish whatever he was about to say, Y/N silences him by placing her lips against his. The kiss felt just as perfect as when it first happened, back at the flower meadow. Vaati's eyes widen at first before he melts into the kiss, placing a hand on her head. What felt like hours was only a few seconds before both pulled back, resting their foreheads against one another's. Y/N then turns to look at Link, opening her mouth to say something, but he silences her.
"It's alright Y/N," Link says before she could finish, smiling gently at her. "If this is what you want, then I'm happy for you." Y/N smiles warmly at him, standing up and hugging him.
"Thank you, Link." She then turns around and walks back over to Vaati, embracing him as well.
"Y/N..." Vaati says, taking her hands in his own. "I know that I'm not the best man for you. I don't even know I even have the right to ask you this again after what I did, so I won't blame you if you reject me." He gets down on one knee, looking up into her eyes.
"My dear princess Y/N, will you marry me?" Y/N's eyes widen at first and she covers her mouth, tears beginning to form in her eyes, but they weren't tears of sadness. No, they were tears of happiness.
"Yes." She says, almost barely audible at first before she repeats it, speaking louder this time. "Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" She immediately hugs him, making them both fall to the ground, but neither cared. Vaati returns the hug, nuzzling his face into her neck.
"Thank you, Y/N. You've made me the happiest person in the world just by hearing you say that."
After that, Vaati helped rebuild Hyrule, apologizing for all that he had done. It took a while, but eventually, the people forgave him, allowing him to stay in the town. It took quite a bit longer to convince Y/N's father though to allow the two to be wed, but after much begging from his daughter, he had allowed it to happen. The two were married and lived a happy life together from then on, nothing ever tearing them or their bond apart ever again.
And that, my friends, is the story of the Princess and the Wind Sorcerer.
