Chapter 1: The Attack

  Y/N's Pov.

"Hey, Link!"
"Hi Y/N." Link waved to me as I walked over to him. Today was another one of those days where I had no royal duties to attend to, so I could hang out with Link, which I was glad about. It reminds me of the times back when we were children.
"So, what should we today?"
"Let's go for a walk through the woods." Link suggests, pointing to the forest on the outskirts of the town.
"Isn't that a bit... dangerous?" I say. Even though there haven't been any monsters in Hyrule since the darkness was defeated, there are still wild creatures that could hurt us. Plus, we could get lost. Link simply chuckles.
"Come on, if anything bad happens, you know that I'll protect you." Link said in a 'show-off' tone, causing me to giggle.
"Alright, alright. Let's go 'Hero.' Race you to the woods!" I say before running ahead. Link laughs and runs after me. I run as fast and far as I can into the forest before coming to a stop to catch my breath.
"I win- Woah!" I get cut off when Link runs behind me and sweeps me off my feet in her arms.
"You had a head start 'Princess.'"
"Yes, but I am running in a dress." I remind Link, motioning to the F/C dress that I was wearing.
"True enough." Link replies with a chuckle, placing me down on the ground and leaning in to kiss me. I blush slightly and step out of the way, causing Link to stumble a bit. I chuckle.
"Nuh-uh Hero. Not until you save me from real danger will you get your kiss." Link pouts slightly. Did I forget to mention that the two of us had a small crush on one another since forever? Or at least I had a small crush on him. I have no idea how much Link likes me, but it's kind of obvious that he does with all the hints he's been dropping.
"Alright fine." Link chuckles. I laugh a bit as well before stopping as I heard a twig snap and look into the forest, though saw nothing.
"Hm? Y/N, is something wrong?" Link asks, confused.
"No... I just thought I heard something." I look back to Link. Suddenly, a large bat-like monster with one giant eye flies out of the bushes. I jump back, causing me to fall down as I cry out in fear as I see the monster heading straight for me. Link immediately springs into action as he grabs his bow and arrows, firing several shots at the giant monster. After a few shots, the creature flies away, back into the forest. He sighs and helps me up.
"Are you alright?" I nod my head.
"Yeah, but we should leave before it comes back." Link nods in agreement before the two of us quickly make our way out of the forest. Once we reach the exit, Link remembers something.
"Hey Y/N, can I get my victory kiss now?" He asks with a slight smirk on his face. I blush and turn to him, sighing as I peck his cheek with a grin on my face. Link pouts again.
"What kind of victory kiss was that? I would've preferred it on the lips.." I chuckle at his response and poke his nose, causing him to blush and then join in with my laughter.
"Come on, let's head back." I say as Link and I begin to head back to the town. I look back to the forest again and blink, seeing a small flash of purple for a split second. Maybe it was just my imagination...
