I groaned in anger as Maddy ran away from me to her house, I couldn't believe that I yelled at her, and now I can help, but think "great job Jason, another good thing in your life that you screwed up". I walked away from her house, back to mine, when I got home, my mom was sitting in the living room reading a book, she stood up as I entered, "Jason, how was your da-", but I didn't let her finish, "it was fine" I snapped and ran up the stairs. I walked to my room and slammed the door and jumped onto my bed, and started blasting music, I put my face into my hands and just sat there. "Jason, honey? What's wrong?" my mom asked on the other side of the door gently, "nothing!" I shouted over the music, then the door opened and my mom walked in and closed the door behind her. She walked across the room and turned down the music, then took a seat next to me on the bed, she rubbed comforting circles on my back and waited for me to talk.

"Maddy and I had a pretty bad fight today" I said quietly, "oh Jason, every couple fights" my mom tried to reassure me, but it didn't help. "I basically yelled at her for being too good of a girlfriend. Maddy almost never cry's yet I made her cry tonight, I'm a horrible boyfriend, and I'm afraid that maybe I've lost her, because of the things I said to her" I explained. My mom nodded the whole time, listening to every word. She patted my knee, "the best thing you can do right now is give her some space, and then apologize, I've seen you two together, and if I know anything about relationships, which I hope I do. Considering your father and I have been happily married for almost 25 years, you and Maddy will be just fine, she will forgive you" she said with a smile. I hugged her tightly, "thank you" I whispered, my mom laughed and let me go then stood up, she kissed me on the forehead, "goodnight Jason" she said, then turned and started leaving, "goodnight" I said quietly, and with that she closed the door. I laid down on my bed and thought of all the different ways I would apologize to Maddy tomorrow.
