Jason's POV

I parked my truck at the quarry and climbed out of my truck, I walked through the woods and past Maddy's cliff jumping spot, and continued to trek up the side of the mountain until I found exactly what I was looking for. There at the lookout spot, Maddy's silhouette sat on a large boulder, I could see that she had her arms wrapped around her legs, I could tell she was thinking hard, because she had yet to turn around to look at me. "Maddy?" I asked quietly, she didn't turn around, "what do you want?" she asked in a quiet, somewhat hoarse voice, and felt even worse, she must have cried a lot. I walked a little closer, trying to be as polite as possible, "can I sit down?" I asked, she just nodded her head, I immediately took a seat next to her, and we just sat in silence for a good 5 minutes. I looked down at my hands and sighed, "I'm so sorry Maddy, I shouldn't had said what I did, and you have every right to be mad at me. I just wanted to let you know, and I understand if you want to take a break" I finished.

She only nodded, we sat there for a couple minutes more, not saying a word, all I could do was look out at the city to avoid the sudden awkwardness between us. After a certain point though, I couldn't take it anymore, I stood up and brushed my hands on the sides of my pants, "I guess I'll leave you alone, I'll see you at school tomorrow" I said and turned to leave, but a soft hand grabbed mine. "Don't leave me, please" Maddy whispered, she tightened her grip on my hand and pulled me to her, I sat down even closer to her this time. The awkwardness was gone at this point, she let go of my hand and wrapped her arms around my torso, hugging me, which I immediately returned. I buried my face into her hair, "I'm so sorry" I mumbled into her hair, "I know, you're forgiven" she mumbled into my chest, and that's how we spent the rest of the day, hugging each other tightly, talking, and just enjoying one another's company. We had spent so long up there, that before we knew it the sun was starting to slowly set, and I had another idea. I unwrapped Maddy's arms from around my body and stood up, and held out my hand to her, she just stared at it. "Come on, I want to do something" I explained, she nodded and put her hand into mine, and I yanked her up, and rested my hands on her hips to steady her. Without thinking I connected our lips, hoping she would comply, I wasn't disappointed, we finally broke apart, I couldn't stop the smile on my face, "come on" I said, and with that we walked hand in hand to where I was leading her.
