Chapter 36

Tobi's POV

"Tobi! Sodapop! Grace!" I hear someone yell from outside... Taylor!

I get up from the couch and run outside with Grace and Sodapop following closely behind me. As I approach them, three Socs surround them with knives. Oh HELL to the NO!

I pull out my blade and run faster until I'm finally standing right behind the three Socs.

"Leave them the fuck alone." I shout, the three Socs turn around and two of them start laughing but one stays quiet.

The one that isn't laughing is actually the Soc that I beat up a while ago!

"Guys, lets head outta here." The third Soc says the other two stop laughing.

"Man, come on, it's just a broad." The second guy says, I ain't no broad!

"She's a Winston." He tells the other two guys, they stare at him for a while and then turn to me, Soda, and Grace.

"We don't waste our time on Winston's." The second Soc says and then they all leave.

Wow, not even gonna fight.

"What a pussy." I mumble, Soda smacks my head playfully. I mumble a 'sorry' and we all head back to the Curtis house.

Once we enter the house, the phone starts ringing so Sodapop answers. All I hear are a bunch of 'yeah....mhm....okay' Then Sodapop's eyes go huge and he hangs up. Before any of us can ask what's up, he runs outta the house and to his truck.

Pony and Johnny go after him but Taylor, Grace, and I all stay put because maybe it isn't even important.

After a few hours Pony, Soda, and Johnny come home but Pony goes straight to his room. All of them are silent.

"What happened?" I ask Johnny, he looks up and his eyes are red and puffy. Was he crying?

"Darry... he got in an accident and..... he ain't comin' back." Johnny tells us and starts crying again, Grace wraps her arms around him and holds him.

I stand up from the couch and walk into Pony's room, he is lying on his bed and crying his eyes out. I slowly walk over to him and sit at the edge of his bed, he looks up at me and sits up fast. I look at him with sympathy, Pony scoots closer to me and kisses my lips. I kiss back but then pull away.

"Wh- why did you pull a- away?" Pony asks with more tears streaming down his cheeks. I hold his hands in my hands.

"Pony, just because this happened.... doesn't mean that you can just get love from me and forget about this. Just cry to get over it." I say calmly, Pony wraps his arms around me and starts crying again.

I hold him and start to cry myself. Darry is gone. He's gone for good.

Taylor's POV

I walk into the kitchen where Soda is, he is sitting at the table with his face in his hands. I stand next to him and place my hand on his shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Soda looks up at me with red, puffy eyes and tear marks. I kiss his forehead and hug him so his head is against my stomach. Good thing about being pregnant is that my stomach can be used my a pillow.

"It's gonna be alright. You and Pony can move in with me if you're afraid that you can't pay for your house, Soda. We will get through this together. This is just a part of life." I whisper, Soda nods but doesn't say anything.

Grace's POV

I hold Johnny as he cries, I keep telling him that everything will be alright but he just shakes his head 'no' I wish I could make all of his hurt go away. I lay down on the couch and so does Johnny, he wraps his arms around my waist and cries into the crook of my neck.

Tobi's POV

Pony cried himself to sleep last night and he will most likely stay in his room all day so I guess I could go and get that nose piercing that I've been wanting to get forever! I get outta bed and walk to the tattoo and piercing shop.

"Hey Tobi, how can I help you?" The front desk guy asks me, I'm a regular customer here.

I tell him I'm looking into a nose piercing, he takes me to the back and get out what he may need to pierce my nose.

My nose still kind of hurts but whatever. I now have a cute black stud on my nose. I walk back to the Curtis house and Pony isn't in the living or kitchen so he's probably in his room. I enter his room and he's still sleeping. I walk over to his sleeping figure and kiss his forehead, his eyes flutter open and he pulls me down and kisses me on the lips, I smile into the kiss and kiss him back.

"I missed you." Ponyboy says and kisses me again. He knew I left?

"I missed you too." I say and kiss his cheek.

Ponyboy and I spend the rest of the day cuddling and then Taylor tells me that Sodapop and Ponyboy will be moving in with us, I wiggle in excitement and Ponyboy tightens his grip on me so I stop wiggling.
