Mely's p.o.v

I watched as everyone was with their parents happy others get gifts laughter every where it was happy for everyone then l looked at myself all alone with my degree and no one to share my happiness with. I left before people feel pity for me, my aunt never showed up. When l was telling her l know deep down that she won't come but l had to try because I know in the afternoon she is free so maybe today she could come to see me and share one of the most important day of my life but no she doesn't care. I walked slowly going back home. l was thinking of what I will do now that I have my degree, work? Then l remember what the teacher told me earlier when he called me in his office.

Sit down I have very good news for you, where is your aunt? Has she come yet? I shake my head no so he sits on his chair and takes out some paper in his hand. Then he rises his head and looked at me with a smile. Then he said the words I thought will never hear..... Congratulations you are one of the top five in the province and so our mayor has offered you a scholarship to Harvard University for farther studies in anything you want. Did I hear well or am becoming deaf. I got myself a scholarship to Harvard University? OMG am going to farther my studies. My tale was lived short when I remembered my aunt. She told me that college was the farther I could go or she will disown me, so slowly my smile disappeared. I took the papers and the scholarship and left without saying anything.

I don't get why my aunt doesn't like me studying, she says it's waste of time and money but she doesn't pay for my studies since I started I have been studying with scholarship so what's wrong with her? I will never get to know why she doesn't like studying. I always try to get best grades so that she can be proud of me and be happy also I want to give her a better life when l get good job but she doesn't get it.
That day l reached home and found my aunt sleeping on a sofa which is my bed at night. I didn't want to wake her up so I went as slow and quiet as I can to her room and change also to keep my degree and some other stuff I had with me. When l came back she was a wake, I greeted her and asked her about her day but she said nothing. I didn't know how I was going to tell her that I got scholarship and was leaving her for more studies. She saw how an easy I was so she asked, what is wrong with you? Are you sick, please don't tell me you are pregnant just like your mother did.... The moment she said that she knew what she just said so she kept quiet. What did you mean when you said that? I asked her but she pretended like she didn't hear me. I asked till I knew she wasn't going to say anything so I left her to the kitchen and took some water to drink. Coming back she had my papers and the degree. What is this? She asked showing me the letter from the mayor and the scholarship. Read it. I told her politely.
You are not going anywhere I have found you work and you are starting tomorrow, but aunt... It's final tomorrow you are going with me, with that she left. Just found myself down crying until I fall asleep.
