Addison adjusted her book bag as she walked down the large empty halls. She was borderline late for curfew, but it was worth it to finish her project early.
She rounded the corner, torchlight barely illuminating the corridor, and was greeted with the sight of her friend and roommate Zoya.
The shorter girl looked up, the blue in her hair looking extra bright against her dark skin. Her lips were pursed as she stood up, two other kids Addison didn't know as well standing with her.
Addison raised an eyebrow. "Am I in trouble for not making it before curfew?"
Zoya shook her head bitterly. "No. The password is ridiculous and bigoted. None of us want to say it and no one will let us in because of it."
The taller Slytherin girl ran a hand through her short hair exasperatedly. On the one hand, if Filch caught them out in the hall, they could all receive detention and lose a multitude of points. On the other hand, the dark reputation of the Slytherin house could only be broken if people refused to follow it.
Addison made a decision.
"Well we'll just have to camp out. No way I'm saying the password either. I assume its the M-word?"
Zoya and the other two kids nodded.
Addison pulled off her book bag and sat down, resigning herself to a sleepless night.
But a well worth one.

Athena roused the corner breathlessly, a little unused to the sudden vigorous exercise. She had been in the greenhouses all day trying to get a closer examination at the Devil's Snare. One quick look out a window had told her she had stayed well past curfew, and was probably going to get in trouble.
Left, right. Keep running. Two lefts. Shit.
The hallway she had ended up in looked nothing like the pathway to the Hufflepuff common room. Mentally retracing her steps, she backpedaled, but ended up even more hopelessly lost. The tall columns of the hall looked over her, marble snakes grinning in her direction.
Snakes. Oh no.
She was near the Slytherin common room.
"Shit shit shit." She mumbled, taking her lace slower as to not run into a Slytherin. Her experiences with the ambitious house had been limited but unpleasant, the few members living up to the evil reputation.
"Yeah, but I'd think Slughorn would notice the missing parsnip." The floating comment made its way to Athena's ears, and she froze.
Slytherins.
She took a deep breath. It would be simple. Ask for directions. Be polite and quick. Make eye contact.
Flipping her curls over her shoulder, she turned the corner and faced the gaggle of Slytherins head on.

Addison turned her head at Zoya's raised eyebrows and mocked the expression.
A small Hufflepuff, determination set in her shoulders had just moved into the hallway, directly for the four teenagers.
Addison let Zoya take lead on the talking. Social interaction wasn't her best talent.
"Can we help you?" Zoya said coldly, not taking well to the intrusion of the area. The Hufflepuff swallowed.
