I got off the bus with a completely blank mind. It seemed like this new life, I had suddenly taken up, was no different from my old: sitting down for most of the day, the sound of people talking in the background while I try to pick out familiar words, attempting to concentrate on the most anonymous things. I approached the portal that would lead to my, now second, life I call home. Greeted by the smell of chicken cooking on the stove, I walked in my home trying my best to make as little sound as possible which ultimately failed when my mother came to the foyer to acknowledge me. I will say, I have never really recalled any conversation I have had and I was sure these ones would be included in the forgotten list.

Immediately after bedtime preparations were complete, I went down the hall into my room and sat on the window sill

Immediately after bedtime preparations were complete, I went down the hall into my room and sat on the window sill. My mother hated the thought of all 43 lbs. of me putting pressure on that small plank of wood. Frankly, all her warnings meant to me was to be cautious of the sound of her footsteps loudening towards my room. I sat there gazing at that, now black, window until I felt my eyelids grow heavier by the minute.

The next morning started the same as the day before; same agenda, nothing new. I walked onto the bus and sat in the same spot as the morning before. We approached the school and entered the large, colorful building. Same old same old. It was like this for quite a while so I'll spare the monotonous writing on my part and the uniform reading on yours.

My life started to change later in the school year. The first half of the day seemed pretty normal, but then came lunchtime. I walked into the large, crowed room with my lunch box in mind when I tripped on something. I thought it was strange since I walked the same path everyday and this was the first time my foot got caught on something. My whole world was tipped on its side when another child tripped and spilt his milk on me. He apologized and claimed it was an accident then simply walked on as if nothing happened. I sat in my quaint little seat eating my lunch when a feeling of little birds biting my face started to annoy me. I look up to see a group of my classmates throwing small scrapings of food at me. I ate the rest of my lunch pretending to ignore the fact that half of my classmates were laughing at me in the background.

"Haven't I seen him before? No maybe not. But I feel like I have. Was it a dream? Argh! I can't remember." These thoughts were running through my head as I exited the cafeteria and spotted a familiar figure walking slightly ahead of me. "Aha! I DO remember him. He's that one boy who let me sit next to him right?"

Recess came and I spent my time sitting under the slide hidden in the shade

Recess came and I spent my time sitting under the slide hidden in the shade. I watched as the other kids ran around the yard screaming and chasing each other with sticks, hauling themselves back and forth suspended on a seat slightly above the ground, and climbing up the walls of the playground. My heart shook for a moment when I felt a slight tap on my right shoulder. Startled, I looked behind me as if I have been caught doing something I wasn't supposed to.

"What are you doing under here? Are you hiding?"

I shook my head at this strange boy who somehow found the courage to talk to me. He tilted his head to the side.

"What is your name?"

Stubborn as I was, I acted as if he had said nothing.

"Well if you aren't going to answer my questions," he began to sit beside me, "I guess I'll just have to sit here and find out why you like it here so much."

I stared at him while he started to watch the other children as well and I thought:

"What is this crazy person doing here?"
