He pulled me to the back of the school and gave me a firm look.
"I don't know what your problems is, and usually I don't care, but it's starting to effect me. I know you think we secretly know each other, but we don't. I don't know nor do I want to know you. Just stop this already and leave me alone for now on. This talk never happened," and with that, he turned around and walked away from me.
I walked home that day with his words echoing in my head. To be honest, I wasn't that surprised. I deserved it. I was being stalker-like and obsessing over a thought that might not even be true. This boy just could've shared the same name and similar look with my childhood best friend whom I miss so much it hurt. It felt like my heart was sinking. Perhaps I have the wrong guy. To Beckett Jair number one: I miss you so much. If you can, please find your way back to me. To Beckett Jair number two: I'm really sorry about coming off to you as a rude, suspicious girl. I'm not usually like this I promise. We don't ever have to see each other again if that's what it'll come down to.
I opened the front door, "Hi, mom."
"Hi, Avery. How was school?"
"It was good fro the most part. Mom, I have a question. Do you remember, like 10 years ago, I had a best friend."
"Yes I do. What about him?
"Do you recall what his name was?"
"Beckett Jair right?"
"Yes, did he have dark brown hair, black eyes, and slightly tanish skin?"
"Yes I think so."
"So I'm not crazy!"
"Baby, what are you talking about?"
"Okay so, there's this new kid and, coincidentally, he looks like on older version of him and his name is, get this, Beckett Jair! I went up to him and asked if he knew me, and he said he has no clue."
"Hmm, well it could just be an amazing coincidence, honey. You shouldn't barge into his life and make him remember though. You can't be sure if it's the same guy."
"Ugh. But he has to be."
"I know that's what you want, Honey, but maybe you should just wait it out and see if he can remember on his own."
"Well that idiot better learn to hurry up. I'm going to my room now. Bye, Mom."
I lied down on my bed staring up at the ceiling wondering what it is I should really do. My heart wants to do something about, but my mind is telling me to leave it alone. After realizing I spent so much time thinking about this controversial subject, I quickly sat up to at least start on my homework before going to practice.
30 Minutes Later
"Avery! It's time to go!"
I stood up to get my belt and uniform and headed for the door. Car rides with my mom were fun because she actually played music whereas my dad usually put on the news which left me in a snooze.
I quickly walked into the studio and went to the bathroom because I still had to change, and class was starting in one minute. Right when the last class left the room, I just came out of the bathroom and finished tying my belt. I felt the anxiety within me finally leaving. I loved taekwondo class. Just something about it made me forget all of my problems, which is what I needed most right now.
Next Morning
I gave out a small scream, "Ah! What the heck, Gabby!"
"Sorry, it just looked like you needed a good scare." I looked at her with narrow eyes. She spoke again, "Hey, so what are you going to do about your little problem?"
"Um, nothing. Why?"
"Wow, you're boring. This is like one of the most romantic experiences of your life thus far, and you're doing nothing about it?"
"You call this romantic?"
Gabrielle's mood and mine were completely opposite at this point.
"Isn't it? It's like a movie or something. Don't worry," she rested her head on my shoulder, "you'll get your prince charming in the end."
"Gabby, you act as if I'm in love with him. I don't like him like that. He's just a friend. I've always thought of him as just a friend."
"Say whatever you want," she poked my temple, "I know what's going on in that little head of yours."
Gabby skipped ahead of me into the school. I had no idea why she was in such a good mood today; not that I'm complaining or anything. I walked into the school casually as ever, and then my best friend appeared right in front of me with her hands on my shoulders pushing me back.
"Don't go in there," she said frantically.
I competed with her strength, "Wait, why not?"
"Just don't come, let's go in through the back gate, okay?" I stopped pushing which caused her to pause as well.
"Okay let's go," I agreed with her and started to walk. She caught up with me, but after a few second, I turned around and sprinted towards the doors. Sometimes I let my curiosity take over the rest of my thinking processes. When I went into the building, I turned my head to see Gabby running behind me trying to catch up.
"Gabby what could be so ba-" I looked at the scene in front of me and started to stare hard. It was Beckett with that same girl we saw at the mall being all lovey-dovey as if they were the perfect high school couple. He whispered something in her ear, and she started to laugh while holding onto his arm.
"Gabby?" she said while trying to look at my face, "Are you okay?"
"I'm...
