Of course, how did I forget we had this block together too. I was getting rather irritated when I looked up to see him giving me that sly smirk. Ugh! That was so disgusting. I looked over at him again (after I thoroughly crushed my eyebrows) to see if he was still doing glancing my way, but he was just casually writing something down as if nothing happened.
A few days later
"Um...hey Avery?"
"Hm? Yeah? What's up?"
"Oh nothing much...I just got detention," she said worried that I might yell at her, and she was right.
"What!? How did you get detention!?"
"Apparently I signed up for some kind of club that I never went to."
"You can get detention from that?"
"I know right! This is so unfair!" Gabby complained, "So yeah. Anyway, can I ask you a favor?"
To say the truth, I was a little nervous to find out what it was.
"What?" I asked with narrow, weary eyes.
"Can you wait for me until I get out?" To be honest, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
"Okay sure. I can't be with you in the classroom, but I'll be there when you get out."
She instantly squealed and gave me a hug. "Yay, thank you so much! Oh yeah, and don't tell my mom."
"I won't," Gabrielle's mom and I were actually pretty close, but to Gabby, it wasn't that funny.
After School
Well, Gabrielle was in detention, which meant I had to find something to do for the next 2 hours or so. I may or may not have a procrastinating problem, so I decided I didn't really feel like doing homework.
A random thought came to my mind. Perhaps I could clean one the teacher's rooms. I mean, why not? I took out my phone, plugged in my earbuds, and began to clean off the desks. I admit, after a little time passed, I got really into the songs.
"Ain't nobody love, ain't nobody love like you do. Ain't nobody love, ain't nobody love like you you you you do." -Tori Kelly
No body was in the room or near me (besides the janitors) so I didn't really care and just got into it. Singing terribly bad and dancing like a flopping bird seemed to be my jam that day.
Little did I know that the door behind me started to open. Some random teenager slightly pushed on the door and watched me as I unconsciously gave off my embarrassing performance.
"And when the lights start flashing like a photo booth, and the stars exploding we'll be fireproof." -Troye Sivan
He stood there for a good five minutes leaning against the door frame, laughing his butt off (of course I couldn't hear), and even taking out his cell phone for a video. I don't even want to know how much of an idiot I looked like.
Finally, I turned around to see him just downright losing his breath because of how hard he was laughing. With my pouting face, I took out my earbuds and hastily walked out the door throwing away my rag. Once I was out of the doorway, I made a run down to Gabby to see if she was done yet.
Nope, of course not. It was only 3:26 which meant I still had like half-an-hour left. Here comes the part where I was contemplating how much I loved her. Which one was more important to me at this moment: Gabby or my risk of further embarrassment?
Fine, Gabby has put up with a lot from me lately. I decided the best thing to do was just to work on homework for the time remaining.
30 Minutes Later
Dang, there was no way a person could sit in those wooden benches for more than 30 minutes and say they were comfortable. I even tried out the floor for a little while which ultimately failed.
"Hey, Avery. I'm done. Thanks so much for waiting."
I replied in an irritated, but yet still trying to sound sincere, tone, "Oh, it's no big deal. You owe me though."
"Whatever it is, okay."
"What? You said you'll agree to anything? I got to make this good now." I teased her.
She lightly punched me and I started laughing. We both started to head home now
On the walk home, I decided to tell her about the embarrassing event that happened while she was in detention.
"Oh my gosh, that sounds hilarious. I would love to see that video. I'm going to ask him for it."
"I don't really care if you see it. I've done worse in front of you. I'm just worried that everyone else might see it."
"Well, I'm not going to show anybody."
I trusted Gabby above anyone else, "I know you wouldn't, but still."
"Yeah, I understand. However if it does get out," she cracked her knuckles, "I'm not afraid to kill a man." I chucked at her remark.
