"His father is Ryan's father's old business partner, and Kylie heard that Liam was close friends with Ryan since childhood.
Ryan appeared by Liam's side, and Kylie could tell he was not amused. She took a step back, putting some distance between herself and the blonde. Liam noticed and glanced back at Ryan, his smile soon replaced with a frown as he realized Ryan looked very annoyed.
"I see you know my wife," Ryan said, and Kylie could sense the undertone in his voice.
"Of course," Liam smiled brightly, hoping to dissipate the tense atmosphere. "We met at the dinner party that my dad used to hold. Elite was in charge of the food. Whenever she served the food, she would go to the quiet place. She and I were the only ones uninterested in being in the crowd."
Ryan gave him a curt nod and then looped an arm around Kylie's waist.
"I should introduce you to the others," he said and whisked her away.
Liam wondered what he had done wrong.
Ryan led her to each person, and Kylie greeted them.
The ladies were polite, and so were the men. They asked how she was and how married life was treating her. Apart from that, Kylie could see that they didn't wish to have much conversation with her. And why would they? She didn't know any of the latest celebrity gossip or the rage scandals.
One of the men pulled Ryan aside to discuss business, leaving Kylie alone once again. But not for long. Liam, seeing that she was unoccupied, rushed back to her side to entertain her with his loony jokes and teases. Kylie was relieved he was there. She didn't want to spend the whole evening in a corner with only a glass of lemon juice for company.
"How's life with Ryan?" Liam asked, swirling his glass of champagne. Even though they were serving alcoholic beverages, Kylie was grateful that Ryan didn't force her to drink alcohol.
"It's good," Kylie easily lied.
I heard you couldn't go on a honeymoon since Ryan was busy with work.
Kylie nodded, "Yeah, that's true. Maybe once he's not so swamped with work, we can finally go on a honeymoon."
But deep down, she knew this marriage wasn't all sunshine and roses. Liam seemed oblivious to the fact that the young newlyweds were far from blissful.
"Hey, you should totally come to my private island," Liam suggested. "I was thinking of buying one, but never got around to it. It'd be a perfect chance for you two to spend quality time together. And who knows, maybe it'll inspire you to get your own private getaway when the little ones come along."
Kylie blushed, feeling a bit flustered at the mention of babies. It seemed like the topic was following her today. Liam, sensing her embarrassment, let out a soft chuckle and affectionately patted her head.
LIAM P.O.V
Liam couldn't help but notice Kylie's flushed cheeks when the topic of babies came up. He found it endearing and let out a gentle chuckle, affectionately patting her head.
