Ryan was thinking about what his mom told him yesterday. Why on earth would she tell him to forget everything when she wasn't against it at first? Well, something is definitely going on that he needs to find out!

"I haven't seen Kylie today. Where could she be?"
He went to the balcony to check if she was there, but she wasn't inside.
Where on earth is this crazy woman?
He decided to check the kitchen, but she wasn't there either.
He saw one of the maids passing by and asked, "Where's Kylie?"
"I-I don't know anyone named Kylie in this house, sir."

He wasn't surprised by the answer he got because he knows Kylie hardly talks to anyone here. As much as he hates to use this word, he had to!

"I was asking you about my wife! His tone was harsh."

"Oh, I saw your wife going to the guest room this morning, Master. She said, looking down."

He passed the maid without thanking or glancing at her.

And yet, he couldn't understand why Kylie had chosen it. It was the smallest room in the mansion. He opened the door and found her on the window seat with an open book in her lap. Her head was tilted towards the window, and her body was curled up to shield from the cool air. Seeing her there, so lost and alone, made his heart dampen with guilt.

He had done this to her, forced her to leave their bedroom and suffer in the cold.

With a sigh, he walked towards her. When he reached her, he noticed the tearstains on her cheeks and the redness of her lips and nose. It seemed like she had cried a lot. And once again, he felt guilty for his actions.

Pushing his emotions aside, he reached out to pick up the book she was reading. Checking the cover, he rolled his eyes at the title 'An Ella in Cinders'. Such a cliché romance novel, a hit in its time. Flipping it over, he looked at the page Kylie had been reading. It was the very last page. He ran his fingers over the yellowing page, feeling its dampness under his touch.

"And they all lived happily ever after," he read silently, and a small smile spread across his lips. Happily ever afters don't exist. I realized that a long time ago when my mother told me how much my father had once loved her. Love doesn't last. The world is too cruel for true happiness. The struggles and pain in my life have proven that.

Closing the book, he set it down on the table.

He tapped her gently. I don't know what's gotten into me. This isn't like me. I've never been nice to her, and I can't be now. No, I can't feel sorry for her, not at all.

Kylie opened her eyes, and that's when she noticed Ryan standing in front of her. She quickly stood up.

"S-sir... Master, good morning. I didn't know you came in." Her face looked worried. She started addressing him as 'Master,' and it was clear that she was very scared of him.

How would you know, Kylie? You were too busy sleeping the whole damn time. What's wrong with you? He shouted, trying to hide his pity for her.

"She hardly sees Ryan being this angry. She decides that staying away from him will be the best thing she can do now."

"I-I'm so sorry," she stammered, too scared to look at him.

Why the hell am I apologizing for sleeping? Who does that?

Forget that, this isn't why I'm here! Tell me, how the f**k did you convince my mom to let you go? What did you say to her? Your voice sounds so angry and disgusted.

She's so scared of your anger and what you might do to her. She knows what you're capable of when you're angry. You might even end up hitting her... Will you? Definitely.

"I didn't tell your mom anything about our marriage, I promise you." He pushes her hard against the wall.

Kylie tries to hold back her tears, not wanting anyone in the house to know what's going on between them. She'll try to explain everything to him if he lets her! "I didn't tell your mom anything, you can ask her. Can you please calm down? Maybe we can talk things out when you're calm. Everything is better that way.

Calm down? Seriously? I can't stand liars. Why do people like you choose to live this stupid lifestyle? Are you happy being like this? Your dishonesty is what I hate most about you. You're a terrible person.

His words always affect her, but she can't do anything except stay quiet.

"I'm s-sorry. If you think I did something wrong, then I'm very sorry."

He slapped her. She couldn't believe he did that, even after telling him the truth.

Yes, he's pushed her, hurt her with words, and burned her certificate, but she never thought he would go as far as slapping her.

If I think you did it? Like, seriously? Can you hear the crap you're saying? You're so damn stupid.

"You worthless pieces of garbage!" he yelled as he hit me.

"It hurts so much. My heart and head ache. I feel pain everywhere. I feel helpless, worthless, useless... I can't take it anymore," she sobbed even harder before he grabbed her hair. She pulled her hair to stop the pain.

I stayed silent as he kept hitting me. There was no point in trying to escape. I'm used to the pain, and he's right. I'm nothing and always will be.
