chapter 23

Kylie couldn't sleep, thinking about what Ryan had told her. Was he really trying to blackmail her? If that's the case, it seems like he's actually succeeding!

When will Ryan realize that she's innocent and doesn't want his money? It's ridiculous that despite how poorly he treated her, she still finds herself hoping for something more. Maybe she's foolish for falling for someone who only wants to see her in pain.

She knows that this divorce will take a toll on her mentally and emotionally. She can't pinpoint when she started developing feelings for Ryan, the same person who wants to see her suffer. He can't possibly understand any of this.

"I really missed you! Thank you for coming over."

"I missed you even more. You know how busy I am with work and stuff."

"Mom, do you have to go back tomorrow? Why do you stress yourself so much when you can have someone to help you? I can actually send someone if you want. You're an adult, and taking care of yourself should always come first."

"I can't. You know how much I love doing my work. Don't worry, I can take care of myself. You're just like your father."

How is life with her? I know you dislike her just like I do. How do you live with her despite everything?

You shouldn't even care about that. After all, she deserves everything I'm doing to her. She did us dirty.

No matter what she did to us, she doesn't deserve to be hit or mistreated by you, Ryan. Don't change yourself for someone who isn't worth your time. You're better than that. Keep being the good person you always are.

"I hope you know she took your daughter away from you, so she doesn't deserve anything.

I don't care what she did to us, Ryan. The fact that she hurt us won't change anything, it won't change how good we are. Did you take a look at that lady and see how skinny she is? She looks like someone who is about to die anytime soon.

I can't believe you think good of her despite everything she has done to us.

"I still do. Why? Because I believe in giving people second chances, and I believe every story has two sides. I want you to divorce her and let her go. This girl looks like a person who is about to die anytime soon! She's weak, she looks like someone who is going through a lot. And the last thing I want is my son to be responsible for someone else's pain or death, so I think the best thing to do is divorce her."

"I can't believe you'd say something like that. I don't even know whose side you're on now. I can't just break my promise like that, Mom. Please, I don't know what the hell she told you, but you need to change your thinking about this issue.

I know what I'm saying... You won't understand it now, but later. I'm trying to stop you because I've experienced something like that with your dad.

"Even Violet wouldn't be happy seeing you like this. She wouldn't want her brother to be filled with hatred."

Ryan put his hand on his forehead before finally turning and looking at his mom."

That's my baby boy ..she said hugging him tight!
