Math class was awkward but in a good way. Usually, when he got to class, he scooted his chair to the farthest end of the desk they shared. She tried to never take offense to the action, and instead think of it as him drawing the boundary lines.

Today when he took his seat, her breath hitched as it always did and she silently began counting to sixty, waiting for him to move. She got to one fifty and he still hasn't proceeded. Wondering what was taking so long, she angled her head slightly towards him to see what was going on. He was reading his book, paying no attention to her whatsoever. A tiny smile graced her lips. He wasn't galaxies away from her today. Only miles and those were easy to overcome.
