She didn't know what to say, so she didn't say anything. She didn't know what to do because he was white so she did what she would do if it didn't matter. She scooted a little bit closer to him and laid a gentle hand on his. His skin felt warm and soft under hers, natural like they were always meant to experience this instant together. It made her wish she could drown
in the moment but she knew better.Silence swam to every inch of the room until he finally spoke up. "Am I one of the awful ones?" He whispered, turning to stare at her.
His green eyes touched every inch of her face before finally landing on her caracole orbs. It scared her that he seemed to know that that was where she kept her darkest secrets, so she snapped the thin thread that had formed between them and down at their hands.________
