The next few hours went by in a flash. It was like Shuichi's soul had left his body.
He wasn't paying attention to what was going on.

Kaede acted to same way as before. It was obvious that as soon as she saw the body, she knew that she had killed Rantaro but she remained to portray a postive appearance despite being drowned in guilt.

Monokuma gave his little speech about the class trial and that the 'Killing Game had started' Shuichi wasn't paying attention, everything was a blur. People were frozen around Rantaro's body, not knowing what to do. Not many people had seen a dead body before.

Shuichi wished that he hadn't.

"Shuichi.."

Shuichi didn't respond. He was still in his trance-like state.

"Shuichi?"

"..."

"Shuichi!"

He snapped out of his trance to see himself face to face with Kaede.

"Ah!" He instantly shouted, he wasn't expecting her to be that close to him.

"You okay?" She asked, a worried expression painted onto her face.

Shuichi looked around. All of the remaining students and himself were standing inside the elevator which took them down to the trial grounds. He didn't even remember getting into the elevator. Kaede was standing next to him, waiting for an answer to her question.

"Kaede.. I.. uh.." Shuichi whispered as subtly as he could, "I know it was you."

Her face drained of all colour, "Y-you.. h-how?"

"I just do." Shuichi shrugged, "I'll expose it after you get the answers you're looking for, okay?"

Kaede was in a pure state of shock. She didn't say anything. She didn't even move.

Kokichi turned around to look at the pair of them as he had heard someone whispering. When he turned around he saw Kaede's face completely pale, like she had just received some terrible news and Shuichi facing forward, his hat pulled down to cover half of his face.

Kokichi thought back to what he had heard Shuichi say a few days earlier. Shuichi said that 'He won't do anything to stop it' and that 'she as to die'.. no way he was talking about Kaede.

The murder hadn't even happened yet..

"He had to mean something else. Kaede wouldn't kill anyone, she's too goody goody for that.. she wouldn't hurt a fly. But by the look on her face right now, Shuichi has defiantly just told her something.."

"It's impossible! He couldn't know.. there's no way."

Kokichi snapped out of his thoughts when the elevator door opened, exposing them to the trial grounds.

When the doors opened, they all wandered into the room and stood behind their assigned podiums. When everyone was standing, the all looked at each others awkwardly, not knowing how to start.

Shuichi felt something poking at his knee so he looked down and saw Monomi. He looked around at everyone then subtly shrugged at Monomi, asking why she was there. "Oh right! I'm here because I wanted to watch you do the trial, maybe help a little bit? Oh! And also, why don't you start the trial, you know how these things work!"

Shuichi replied back by shaking his head but after a few minutes he gave in. "Should we start with alibis?"

Everyone looked at him with surprise on their faces. "Alibis?" They all muttered curiously.

Shuichi answered nervously, "It's to narrow down the suspects, that's what we're meant to do.. I think.."

Kaede stared at him.

Kaede pov

He's trying to turn everyone against me! I thought he said that he was only going to expose me when I said I was ready! He betrayed me! I promised to protect him and now he's trying to get me executed? It was an accident! I didn't want to kill Rantaro!

I'm not ready to die! I want to live!

I'm going to survive no matter what! That's it! I'll accuse him of being the culprit, everyone will believe me.. I'm the only one who can support his alibi. Without me he looks guilty as hell.

I'll get away with this.

I'll convince everyone that it was him who killed Rantaro! I need to survive no matter what!

No-one's point of view.

The blond Inventor was the first one to speak up, "I pulled an all nighter to get those camera fixed and I kind of fell asleep, so it wasn't me! It couldn't of been, no way the genius girl Inventor would be so stupid."

The trial went on, exactly as it did before. Except Kaede seemed sort of... unhinged. Everything she said was tinted with anger and fear.

Everyone had said their alibis and the culprits were narrowed down to Shuichi and Kaede.

"If Shuichi had the sensor, he must be the culprit!" Tenko delclared, "I wouldn't expect anything less from a degenerate male!"

Shuichi remembered this from the first trial. This was the part where Kaede had to lie to safe everyone from suspecting him, saying that she had the sensor.

But Kaede didn't say anything.

And people eventually started to look at him, thinking carefully about what Kaede had just said. To everyone else, Shuichi looked extremely guilty and if Kaede didn't do anything... they were all going to vote for him and they were all going to get executed.

"Shuichi, did you really kill Rantaro?" Kaede questioned innocently.

Kaede.. you know that I didn't do it. Why are you doing this? I've only been friendly with you, I helped you. WHY ARE YOU TURNING ON ME NOW? Is this all my fault? Maybe if I hadn't of told you, you wouldn't do this?

I've screwed everything up. I came back to save everyone and now, because of this stupid mistake.. I'm going to get everyone killed.

I have no idea how I'm going to get out of this.

"Of course I didn't kill Rantaro!" Shuichi replied defensively.

"You must of done.. it couldn't of been me." Kaede accused, "I don't want to believe that you did it.. but did you? Please tell me, don't lie."

Shuichi felt his fists clench. Kaede was making everyone turn against him, making everyone think that he was a murderer. He didn't even do anything wrong.

"I-I.." Shuichi stuttered, unable to form the right words.

"Really?" A voice arose from the corner of the room, "Are you serious? You really like a guy like him could actually kill someone? Kaede is lying, obviously."

"Huh?" Everyone declared in unison, looking at the purple-haired boy.

"By the way Kaede acted just now, it was obvious that she was lying just now." He continued, a smirk plastered onto his face. Kokichi turned to Shuichi then smirked at him which was followed by a wink. 

Shuichi couldn't help but smile back. He never thought that Kokichi, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, might have his back.
