Brendon kissed my lips while holding his stuff in his hands before saying:
"Good luck, Honey."

I smiled and said it back, before getting out of the car and walking to the college campus. Brendon drove away, taking an alternative route to park in the staff parking lot, as not to raise suspicions.

I had barely stepped foot on campus grounds before I felt a tap on my shoulder and an excited voice exclaim a greeting. I turned around reluctantly to find the guy from the other day grinning at me.

"Hi! I forgot you go here!"

"Oh, yeah...sorry, what was your name again?" I questioned, though I wasn't really interested.

"Jake. Do you seriously not remember my name?"

"Sorry, bad memory. Anyways, I gotta go to class, so..." I trailed off, about to walk away while saying a brief goodbye.

Hi guys it's me, socially inept Scarlet here.

"Oh! What class do you have?"

"English Literature with Mr Urie." I said reluctantly.

"No way! Me too! C'mon, let's go to class together."

I have no idea how he couldn't hear me sighing and huffing, but he still wanted to go with me, and presumably sit next to me. I had to say yes though.

"And so, I know it's not cool, but I'm giving you homework on the first day. Don't worry though, it's not an essay with a ridiculous due date, it's just an ongoing thing that I want finished by the end of this semester. I want you to take a book - a proper one, not just a page long story - write an analysis on it, and then write you're own that has the same themes and such. Understand?"

The whole class gave him various alternatives to an agreement, so that was gonna be our task. It sounded interesting, so I already started thinking about it when Brendon began talking again. Political criticism like George Orwell? Or dramatic romance like Shakespeare? Or perhaps even—

"Scarlet! Can you answer my question?"

I was suddenly woken up by Brendon, but I had no idea what he asked.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I said: Can you read out the fourth page in the textbook you should have got out five minutes ago?"

I nodded, embarrassed, as I got the second hand textbook from my bag and opened it to page four, before reading out the first paragraph.

"Well for your first college lecture, I'd say that wasn't too bad." I said, my arm rubbing Brendon's shoulder in an attempt to be comforting.

"They don't listen to me...they think I'm shit."

"No they don't, B, and trust me, they don't listen to anyone. Most of them are still teenagers. But you did well, Honey. I'm proud of you."

I grinned as he smiled back (hesitantly at first), before I got up to made some food.

"So what do you want to eat?" I asked.

"How about we go out to dinner to celebrate?" He questioned.

"Sure thing." I replied.
