'...Dead.' She mumbled as tears ran down her pale face. Her make-up had run but she didn't seem to care. As the tears ran down to the top of her lip, she slowly wiped it away placing her arm over my shoulder. My heart beated rapidly as the sound of her voiced echoed in my head endlessly. My mouth quivered as I felt a tear of grief forming at the corner of my eye. 'No.. Mum! Stop it! This isn't a good joke.' I groaned as more tears appeared from my eyes. A flood of tears continously poured upon my cheek as I looked over at my mum. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and noticed a wet patch on the duvet of my bed. My tears had stained it. I shrugged but my mum just mumbled, 'I'm so sorry, Alice.' Just staring at her pale face, sobbing at the news she just told me, I knew it was no joke. Who would even joke about something so serious? No parent would have the guts to joke about that. It's awful! My mum hugged me tightly as she placed her chin upon my shoulder. I could hear her cries. Just the sound of those made me feel even worse. Why is this happening to me? Why me? Out of billions of people in this world, it has to be me? 'Why do people keep leaving me, Mum?' I whimpered as I looked at her in the eyes. Although my vision was a bit blurry, I could see the sadness in everyone's faces. 'Am I bad person that everyone keeps leaving me? It hurts so much. Why my baby?' I sobbed. She wiped the tears on my face and hugged me again, 'Don't ever think that. This isn't your fault. I'm so sorry, Alice.' She whispered, 'I'm so sorry.'
