•KANDICE•

Months passed since my mother's death, and I still wasn't quite the same anymore. Although, I went on to pretend that I was fine. I went back to work, and I constantly told anyone that asked how I was, that I was fine.

And today was a day where I needed a little extra comfort, so I went to my mother's grave, and I just.. talked. I know that it's dumb, but it just felt right.

"It's been two months since you died, mom." I said, my voice breaking as I spoke. "I still don't know what the hell I'm doing. I don't know what to do without you."

I paused for a moment and just stared down at her grave for a moment as tears rolled down my cheeks. "What would you say if I told you that I almost married some crazy Brit?" I said and let out a small laugh. I knew that she wouldn't respond, but I couldn't help but say it.

"Well, I never got to meet her, but I think she would say; 'What's stopping you, Kandy?'" A familiar voice said from behind me, and a hand reached out and set a single rose on my mom's grave. I turned my head and saw Dominic standing there. "I see you're still wearing the ring."

I stood there shocked for a moment, wondering if I was hallucinating. I didn't expect to see him there. In fact, I didn't expect to ever see him again.. at all.

"Did she ever call you that?" Dominic said and I slowly nodded my head 'yes'. He took off his jacket and slung it over my shoulders. "I figured she probably did."

"How did you know?" I said, almost in a whisper.

"Well, it was just a lucky guess." He said and sighed a little as he put his hands in his pockets.

"No, how did you know? How did you know that she died? How did you know where she was buried? How did you know I'd be here?" I said and he took in a deep breath.

"Uh. Well, when you wouldn't call me, and when I realized you wouldn't answer any of my calls, I got worried," Dominic started. "So, I called someone and asked him to check up on you."

"Who?" I asked.

"Your cousin Jake. I found his number and asked him about you." Dominic said and I sighed a bit.

"You said you asked him to check up on me, right?" I said and he nodded his head a bit.

"Yeah. I asked him what was going on, and asked him if you were okay." He said. "And then he explained everything and I asked him to check on you. He said you were doing fine, but I just needed to make sure. So, that's why I came here."

"That's a lie." I said and he scoffed a little.

"What? Why would you say that? I care about you, Kandace. Very deeply. I truly did-"

"No, no, not you. Jake lied. I'm not okay. And he never even checked on me. Never once did he call. He didn't text. He didn't even drop by my house or where I work. I haven't heard from Jake since I was 10." I said and Dominic raised his eyebrow a little.

"He told me that he went to your house a few times." Dominic said and I shook my head.

"No, he didn't. I've been all alone this whole time." I said and he sighed a bit.

"I should've came sooner." Dominic muttered and ran his hand through his hair. He was obviously a bit frustrated that he had been lied to, and that no one had been checking on me when he thought they were.

"No, you didn't ha-"

"I should've been here for you, Kandice. I shouldn't have let you leave all by yourself. I should've went with you. I-"

"You did what you had to do." I said, interrupting what he was saying.

"No, I needed to-"

"Dominic, just stop. Please. Stop saying what you should've done, and just do what I need you to do now." I said as calmly as I could.

He just stood there in silence for a moment as he looked directly at me. "What do you need me to do now?"

"I need you to get me out of here. I need to get away. You're my only way out." I said.

"What?"

"Just... take me with you. Wherever you go. Please?" I said and he held his arms out toward me.

"Kandice," He said softly as I took a few steps closer to him, and he wrapped his arms around my waist. "I would love to do that.."

"But?" I said, knowing that he couldn't be finished with that sentence. There was no way.

"But I don't know if that's really the best idea or not." He said and I took a few steps back.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because I'm not going anywhere."

"What? But what about your tour?" I said and he sighed a bit.

"You're more important than the tour, Kandice. I went off and did a few shows instead of coming to see you to make sure you're okay. I relied on a stranger to take care of you, and he turned out to be a liar." He said.

"That's the thing, Dom. If I go with you, then you can be with me. You won't have to worry about me or anything. I'll be right there." I said and he sighed.

"It's not that easy, love." He said.

"No one said it would be easy." I said. "Please, Dominic? I just want to be with you. Only you. I hated being away from you so much. I don't think I'd be able to handle it again."

"You never called. And you never answered my calls." He said and I sighed a little.

"I know. It was my fault. I just-"

"Come with me. We aren't going on tour, though. Not yet. I've postponed it. I need to take you somewhere." Dominic said and grabbed my hand.
