CARL'S POV.

I stand next to Jenna, Dad and Michonne outside the church.
"It's time we finish what we started. Negan doesn't get to live. He's the definition of evil and we've lost too many people because of him. Glenn, Abraham, Olivia, Spencer ..." I announce to the large crowd gathered there for the arranged meeting.

"He took Madison from us and that wasn't his choice. He took Daryl and Eugene and he'll keep taking people until we do something about it." Dad adds.

"For the people of Alexandria and our family in the Hilltop, we have to do this to keep each other safe. We can't afford to be scared and I know some of you must be, but his next victim could be you or your family. It's time to act." Jenna supports.

"We'll need a show of hands, who's onboard?" Michonne asks.
Not many people raise their hands.
I sigh. "Guys, I know you must be scared. I'm not gonna stand here and tell you that I'm not either because we all have family and we don't know if they'll be here tomorrow. That's why we need to fight. I have new family that I have to fight for, people are depending on me. I'm depending on all of you." I tell them.

They look away to avoid eye contact.
"Look, people who died yesterday had plans for this morning. And those who died this morning had plans for this evening. Wherever and whoever they are, they had plans, they had dreams of who they wanted to be and where they wanted to go. If we don't have that then what are we even here for? Don't take life for granted, in the blink of an eye everything can change. That's why we have to change this. I'm doing this for Madison and our baby. Maggie is fighting for Glenn and her baby. Sasha and Rosita for Abraham, the list is endless. The question is who are you fighting for?" I demand sternly.

"Raise your hand if you're onboard." Michonne repeats.
Almost every hand raises slowly into the air.
I smile, triumphantly.
"We are alive today and I plan on staying alive so let's make our plans.
Negan doesn't get to live." I confirm.

KAI'S POV.

I stumble through the woods searching for anything that moves, anything that I can kill and eat. My stomach hurts and it growls loudly, never letting me forget how hungry I am.

Madison's ring is settled on my middle finger on my left hand. When I look down at it my heart throbs in pain and I can't stop thinking about what I saw when they released me from the cell and how I felt. Totally and utterly hopeless.

I clutch my sister's knife and scan the woodland area for the dead.
It's silent. Too silent.
I continue to walk past bushes and trees. I listen to the crunching of dead leaves beneath my feet and the snapping of the twigs when I walk over them.

I continue to search for Alexandria like Madison asked.
But who the hell is Alexandria?

Flashback
When they open the cell door my eyes burn with the adaption to the bright light. I swipe away the moisture at my eyes and jump up too quickly, making the dark room spin.

I reach out and steady myself against the doorframe.
When the room finally stills Eugene stands next to me at the door and looks at me sadly.
I search his broken expression.
"Where is she?" I whisper.
Eugene looks up at me through his lashes and shakes his head.

My heart sinks but I have to see her for myself. I need to know she's okay. I open my fist to reveal Madison's ring and I slip it into my middle finger on my left hand.
I sprint up the numerous and unnecessary amount of stairs until I make my way to the hub, pushing past people and shoving over stalls to make my way to the infirmary.
I hear people screaming at me as I flee the room and I turn just in time to see the havoc and mess I've caused in the Hub but I don't care.
