CARL'S POV.
Dad, Jadis and I abandoned the car near the trees before we grabbed the weapons we needed from the trunk of the car. We try our best to track the trucks Kai told us about. Every now and again we find tire tracks clear as day in the dirt below us. Dad decided that Jadis should come with us so we can talk about how we're gonna make this deal work for both of our groups and what we get out of it. Our main priority right now is killing Negan and getting our freedom back.
Jadis is from one of the many groups we associate with, but not one of our most trusted groups. Atleast, thats what I heard. They call themselves 'The Scavangers' and from what dad told me they really do scavange. I never got to go to their place because I was always at home with Kara and Judith, but also incase we had another attack. Somebody had to stay behind and I had more reason to stay then the others. Dad and Michonne explained to me how the Scavengers lived in this huge yard filled with garbage hypes the size of houses. They took what they wanted, when they wanted and they didn't feel bad about it either. I think that's why they are so untrustworthy because they're unpredictable.
I can't help but watch Jadis everywhere we go. I watch every move she makes and where her gun is and approximately how long it would take her to reach down to her side, lift up her gown and grab the holster holding her gun before pointing and shooting my dad. I also try to calculate how long it would take me to stop her if I could. So much is happening in my mind that it's almost on overdrive as I try hard to concentrate on tracking but I fail miserably while observing her.
"What?" She snaps when she catches me watching here.
"Nothing." I shrug.
She glares at me.
I stare back. "What's your prob-"
Dad shushes me and I turn to see him pointing at a truck in the far away distance, parked between two large trees.I squint seeing two men sitting on the back of the open trunk with their legs dangling, almost touching the ground and machine guns resting on their laps. I think I see more men in at the back and sitting in the front seats.
"Each of us will take a side. Jadis take the front, i'll take the side and Carl you run towards the back incase any of them make a run for it. Cover us." Dad instructs.
I nod and we all run in different directions at a distance where we can't be seen.I look to Jadis who gives me a signal passed on from dad. Immediately, I hear gunshots fired towards the truck and men running out of it. Eventually, they grab their guns and start firing back at Dad and Jadis.
Jadis points her gun at all the men and shoots but misses every time.
I frown in confusion.
Each man and woman that runs from the truck run towards dad and she doesn't stop them.
I shoot the saviors who try to run off and I shoot those who gets too close to dad.Within seconds everyone is dead and the once white van is now splattered with red. I walk closer when I see dad pull two bodies from the trunk and reach into the truck pulling out a machine gun and a bag. He seems oblivious to the fact that Jadis just stood there.
When I stand next to him, I peer in the truck and find a bag. I open it to find two boxes of ammo, a book and an apple.
I take out the ammo and show dad. He seems happy enough with the outcome. I put them back in the bag and stare at the rest of the pathetic contents."Wow he was really stocked for a war here." I roll my eye.
I zip up the bag and take it with me. We grab all the guns and knives off the dead saviors and stuff them in a gun bag dad brought.
"Let's get out of here now. If there's any more trucks near by they would have heard the gunshots. So we need to move so we can find them before they find us." Dad explains.
I nod in agreement and Jadis doesn't object.
