Madisons pov.
"Have a seat." Dr. Anderson insists.
I sit up on a tall seat that looks similar to a stretcher. I notice a bed in the corner of the room for patients who require full attention.
"What can I help you with....uh-"
"Madison." I finish he extends his hand out and I hesitate before shaking it quickly.
"Your new? This must all be a shock to you." He notes while leaning against a wall.
"I've seen chocolate today for the first time in about 7 or 8 eight years. That was a shock, shock is an understatement when it comes to this place. Its strange and it sets me off that everyone is so calm, like nothing is happening outside the walls. I still carry my bow with me everywhere." I explain.
"Yes, I see that." He says while eyeing up my bow and arrows that lays on a table across the room.
"Im curious now, did you call for me to give you a check up or therapy?" He asks seriously and calm but his eyes are suspicious.
"Um, neither. I actually came to you to ask for advice..... kinda." I say.
He nods his head encouraging me to go into detail.
"So my friend.... Maggie, well she, she's pregnant, but she doesn't know that yet. She's in denial." I inform him but I instantly regret bringing Maggie's name in this, but I had to make the story believable.
"She doesn't know..... but you do?" he presses and his eyebrow raises. I feel sweat form at the back of my neck and I fear he can see right through my lies.

Pull yourself together Madison

"Well, the signs are all there." I attempt at my numerous excuses that I had thought up prior to the chat incase the conversation went south.
"Uh huh! Moody?" He asks
"I guess."
"Food Cravings?"
"Not much yet, a little. But not meat."
"Nausea?"
"always."
"Morning sickness."
"Definitely.... It drives her insane." I mumble the last bit.
"I think your assumptions are correct." He nods.
"You seem to know Maggie very well." He notes.
"As if we were the same person." I chuckle to myself at my own inside joke. He just nods but ignores my sudden burst of laughter.
"So what can I do about this?" He asks
"Well, dr. Anderson-"
"Call me pete."
"Well, Pete, her morning sickness is pretty bad. She can't stay away from the bathroom much in the mornings. Is there anything that can help her?"
"I don't usually encourage medication during the start of a pregnancy but if the morning sickness is as bad as you say then I do have something that can help. It won't stop it but it'll calm it down." He explains.
"Thats all she needs." I approve.
"Stay here. I'll go find it." He walks off and leaves me alone. I sigh and rake my hands through my hair.

What have I gotten myself into?

I hear footsteps coming back and Pete enters the room again with a frown on his face. He scratches his head twice and then turns to me.
"I do have the medication. I just can't find it at the minute. Nobody has been pregnant for a really long time here in Alexandria, so I presume it's in the back of the medical closet. I'll have to dig through it to find it. I have patients to help later. I understand Maggie wants to keep this on the down low so I will only tell Ron to pass this medication onto you for your friend." He tells me.
"Thank you so much. Really, i'm grateful." I say while hopping off the seat and heading towards the door.
"Pete?"
"Yeah?"
"You said nobody has been pregnant here in a long time, you were implying that somebody was pregnant here once. Are they still here? Could I talk to them?" I ask trying to hide my desperation.
"They aren't here anymore." He confirms my worry.
"When she left did she take the baby with her?" I ask.
"In a way.... Yes."
"Did you deliver the baby?"
"No."
I feel like I have so many pieces to a jigsaw and im so close to completing the puzzle but I'm missing a piece.

"I don't understand." I admit.
"She had a miscarrage on her eight month. She was young, maybe a year or two older than you. The baby died and turned inside her. We are all infected, even the unborn. It tore her inside out and it killed her. It's a dangerous time to be pregnant these days, thats why I hope your friend can come for a scan. We could detect any problems before they occur. Nobody has to die. Not two young lives." He encourages. I nod.
I grab my bow and arrows, close the door behind me and start running.
