23. Dream A Little Dream Of Me

"Make sure you dress warmly! And eat healthy food! And don't stay up late! And make sure to call me once a day to say, that everything is fine or, at least, text me!"

I chuckled, not being able to hold a smile at the worried face of (Y/N) as she was reminding me about all the "instructions", that I needed to follow in the time of her absence.

People in the airport, we were in, passed by us as they were hurrying to their check in desks or somewhere else, while the three of us (Yozo was with us as well), stood still in the center of this chaos, untouched by the rush and time around us.

"(Y/N), I'm older, than you~" I said "I think, I'll manage to survive two months somehow~"

"I know, but I'm just worried." She sighed, coming closer to me and hugging me, resting her head on my shoulder

"Will you be calmer if I prove you, that I remember everything you said~?" I asked, hugging her back "I need to walk with Yozo two times a day, in the morning and in the evening and I need to always leave him food, before going to work~ I should visit your mom once a week, although you hired a nanny for her, but I should still check if she's fine~ I should be careful during missions and come home safely~ if I suddenly feel any discomfort somewhere, I shouldn't ignore it like I usually do and call you immediately~"

"Do you remember, what you are doing tomorrow?" She questioned

"I'm going to the publisher, which you contacted recently, to publish one of my works~" I replied "And I need to tell you how it went~"

"Good." She sighed in relief, before smiling softly "I guess, I really don't have to worry anymore~"

"Finally you admit it~" I smirked, kissing her forehead "Trust us, alright~? Yozo's with me so both of us will be fine~"

"I'm going to miss you two so much..." (Y/N) whispered "I love you so much and I have no idea how I will survive two months without you..."

"Darling~" I smiled reassuringly at her "It's just too months~ We'll see each other faster, than you say "double suicide"~"

She pulled back and looked me in the eyes and I think, I might remember that look forever.

I remember, how when I was still a teenager, I was dreaming about someone, who will look at me and see the whole universe in my eyes. I used to crave intimacy and love in the eyes of the people because back then, I was only surrounded by dull eyes and stone hearts. That was until I met (Y/N) for the first time. At the age of 17, I discovered romance and tenderness for the first time in my whole life and although it was foreign to me, there was something in (Y/N)'s touches and words, that I wholeheartedly loved, but only later, I realized, that it was called "falling in love".

And now, (Y/N) had every single emotion she was feeling in this very moment in her eyes. Why was this moment so special? Simply because I could see all her love to me in her eyes and it was so big that it was even coming out and rolling down her cheeks.

I was her whole world just like she was mine and both of us couldn't bear the idea of parting.

"(Y/N)?" I asked in disbelief, before hugging her tighter, than I ever did and started covering her face with feather-like kisses "Shh, love, there's no need to cry. We're not parting for forever. This all will end and we'll be back to our normal life!"

"Oh it's not the reason of my tears...~" She smiled softly, while still crying "It's just the realization, that for the first time in my life, I'll come back to someone~ I won't be greeted with an empty home and heartbreaking silence but by your scent, voice and warmth, that I love so much~ I'm just happy to know, that I'm needed, Dazai~"

While my brain was still trying to comprehend the real meaning of her words, she cupped my cheeks and kissed me as she was trying to express all her emotions through this seemingly simple gesture.

Love is such a funny thing. You may spend the whole eternity with one person, yet when the time will come for the two of you to part, that eternity will seem like a second to you. No matter how much time you kiss someone, you still crave for more of their taste or scent because of your unbearable love. Moreover, sometimes, you feel like all the feelings, that you're experiencing and all the happiness might be ready to explode out of you, to tear you apart, but it's still considered as a good thing! Perhaps, it's because you're ready to explode to keep your significant other safe and sound.

"The passengers of the race AK0432, from Yokohama to Daegu, please, pass to the registration."

(Y/N) pulled away from me, pressing her forehead to mine.

"I need to go." She whispered

"I know." I replied "You should go now or you might miss your flight."

She took a step back and after wiping away her tears, took her luggage, ready to go

"Goodbye, Osamu~ And you too, Yozo~" She smiled and waved at us, before turning around and walking away from me

Yozo leaned on my leg and whimpered as both of us watched how (Y/N)'s back disappeared in the crowd

"I know, buddy." I kneeled down and patted his head "I'm gonna miss her too. But hey, we have each other, right~? Plus, I think, we got a lot more closer recently so we'll have a great time together~"

Perhaps, a part of me in that moment already knew, that we won't see her in such a short time as two months, but of course, it was just a feeling, which I forgot about later.

This was how a new part of my life, which I was about to share with my four-legged friend, started.
