Mystery guy^^
I'm not ready for this. Today is the day we lay my sister to rest. Adam's family kept his ashes. I slip on my short black dress and flats. I go to braid my hair in a side braid and remember yesterday's cut. I sigh, looking into the mirror. Cameron comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist. "You look gorgeous love." "Then why do I feel so ugly?" I ask him. He holds me a little tighter and says to me, "Because you feel lost and a bit more empty. You feel as if you're going to let her down or that it's all unfair." I nod for him to continue. "But baby you're not alone. You're going to get through all of this and make her proud. I know because I'm going to be standing by your side the whole journey. Now come on, it's time to go." I lace my fingers with his and go to the car. The whole way there is filled with silence. As we arrive, I notice that there's a lot more people than I had expected. There were people even flown in from Tennessee. My sister was loved. Cameron notices me shaking a little bit and goes back to the car to get my drink. "Here babe, take a sip. It's going to be alright." I nod and do as he says to do. Calming down, the pastor calls me up to say a few words. Cameron squeezes my hand for reassurance that it'll be alright. "Hi everyone. Thank you for coming. I know Ruby is smiling down on us. She was the best cook, the best singer, the best sister, mom and daughter anyone could ask for. She was my best friend. She was super friendly in a sense that she knew everybody. She always wore a smile on her face, No matter the situation at hand. It's no mystery that she'll be greatly missed. Rest in Peace beautiful and Fly high! I'll love you forever." With that being said, I moved to let a couple of her friends say a few words, so I can cry in Cameron's arms. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice a familiar guy standing on tue other side of her casket. It's the same guy I bumped into at the mall. I don't recall ever seeing him around my sister or myself. He looks to be at least 6ft if not taller. He has dirty blonde hair, cut short, nice tan and blue eyes. I notice the Lily and rose on his hand. What?! That's mine and my sister's favorite flowers. That can't be a coincidence. I start to make my way over to him, so I can ask him questions, but before I could, he was gone. "Who are you?" I whisper to myself. Cameron walks over to where I am and looks at me questioningly. "What was that all about love?" I shrug and tell him, "I'm not sure babe. I'm still trying to figure it out myself." He placed a kiss to my forehead and asks me, "Is there something you want to tell me?" I nod. "Remember the day I went out with your sister?" He laughs and says, "Yeah I remember. It was yesterday." "Oh yeah you're right. My bad. Well remember how I was telling you I bumped into a guy I've never seen and he knew my name? Well that was him! I don't know why he was here!" He then says, "Calm down love. We'll figure this out and who he is before it's over with. I'm sure that's not the last time we'll see that guy. Let's go home and relax before Kaitlyn and Tucker bring Amelia back. Even though that won't be until around 5 o'clock. I place Lilies on my sister's grave and head home. On the way there, I ask if he could drive by my sister's old house. He pulls into the driveway and we get out. As I unlock the door, I take a deep breath before entering. "I can't do this! It's to much right now. Cam, get the sign out of the back and a marker out of my purse. I sit down at the bar waiting for him to come back in. When he does, I take the sign and write my name and number on the front and the back. I place it in the middle of the yard before leaving. "How much are you selling for love?" He asks me as we back out of the parkway. "$875,000. It's a beach house and it's plenty big. To be honest, that's a bit cheap for what mom and dad paid for it, but I'm not greedy at all. I just want to be okay. Are we going to go sign the papers for legally adopting Amelia or are we going to wait for a few days babe?" He smiles and says, "Let's go while we're out, if you're sure you are up for it right now. Whatever you want to do, I support and agree with you. I love you baby girl." "I'm sure I'm up for it and I love you too." "This is a big step, good luck you two. Just sign on the dotted line here and here." The man says as he points to places on the pages as he flips them. Cameron signs his name under mine and the guy hands us a copy. "There you go. You are now legally Amelia Rose Smith's parents." "Thank you sir." I say before walking out hand in hand with Cameron. We stop on the way home and get Burger King. Chicken sandwich combo for him, the whopper combo for me and a 6 piece nugget kids meal for baby girl; in case she's still hungry. When we get home, Kaitlyn and Tucker were already parked out front. I open the door, welcoming them in while babe brings the food in. Amelia sees me and comes running to me. "Mommy!" She beams. I pick her up, looking at Cameron for his reaction, but he only smiles. Kaitlyn nods before going to sit at the bar. "She missed you. She kept asking about you. So we came bk earlier. Oh! She might be hungry. She only ate a few bites of rice." "Rice? K did y'all have Chinese? And without me at that?! You hate me!" I dramatically cry. She laughs and says, "I was going to bring you some but this one ate the rest." Pointing at Tucker he says, "It was so good! I love you sis but it couldn't be helped. I had to work today and didn't have enough time to pack a lunch, so by the time I got home, I was starving. Won't you forgive me? At least just this once? I promise to make it up to you!"
