Before I know it, third and fourth period classes are over with and it's time for lunch. I get my food and go to my normal spot. I bite into my burger and am taken by surprise when Cameron sits across from me. "Hey Aubrey, do you mind if I sit with you? I don't really want to watch Yasmine and Evan suck each other's faces off. I want to eat in peace." He says to me. I nod then tell him, "Sure. You can sit here anytime you'd like. Though I don't think it would be a good idea." He asks me why and I tell him, "Well it's not that I don't want to sit with you. It's just I don't want your reputation to go downhill because you're sitting with me." I look down at my tray until he speaks up, "Look at me. Bre, you aren't going to ruin my reputation and even if somehow you did, I'd be okay with that. You're amazing and I love being in your presence. You make me smile and laugh. I also love how quiet you are with others but warm up and open up to me. It makes me feel like I have a real friend, outside of the popularity." I blush at his words and nod as I finish my burger. We eat the the rest of the time in silence then go our separate ways. I walk home as usual. Only a 30 to 45 minute walk. So it isn't a bad walk. I could ride home with Cameron since he lives so close but I won't ask him to do so. I still wonder what he wrote for our free verse poem assignment in Creative Writing. For some weird reason it bugs me, that he wouldn't let me just see his grade. Did the poem have to do with me or something? I guess only he, the teacher and God knows. I call my sister and let her know I'm on the way. She says "when you get here, I need to talk to you about your big day." I agree and say my goodbyes before hanging up. I get there within the next 10 minutes or so. I walk through the door expecting my niece to come running to me. When she doesn't I question my sister, "Is Amelia asleep or something?" She sighs then tells me, "Or something love, She's at grandma's again. I needed to clean up the house and have some me time." I nod then sit at the bar in the kitchen. "So what about my birthday do you want to talk about?" I ask her. She responds with, "Everything. I want to know if you would like to have a house party at your new place, you'll be getting the keys to or here? Also what would you like from Amelia and I? Money is no object when it comes to your big day." I think for a few minutes then say, "I'd like to have the party at my place, that way I don't keep you up. However, I would like for you to help me set it up and get everything ready. I would love for us to go shopping for my outfit, I'll be wearing, soon though. As far as a gift from you two, I want nothing more than just to see y'all. Maybe you could bake me a cake, that would he really nice." She laughs. "Okay Bre, I'll bake you a cake but I'll still be getting you something. Mom and dad already got you a house, that's already furnished, So I have to get you something just as big. I shall have it at your new place when we arrive." I shake my head at her and say. "Ruby, you know I don't care for expensive things but I know you're not going to listen to me, So thank you in advance." She tells me, "You're very welcome love. Quick question though. How many guests are you planning on having?" "I don't know Ruby. Maybe 20 to 30, if I invite a few friends from back home and my Creative Writing class." I tell her. I look at the time and realize I have been talking to her longer than expected. I only have an hour til Cameron's party starts. I run upstairs to my shower and wash up quickly. I get dressed in my black hater top, blue jean shorts, and tie my blue and black plaid long sleeve shirt around my waist. I then slide my black Tims on. I throw my hair up into a messy bun and do my makeup. In which, I decide a natural eye with a bit of eyeliner and soft pink lips. I rush downstairs to hug my sister and tell her not to wait up for me. I walk over to Cameron's back yard and see people already dancing, some making out and others going for a swim or by the fire pit roasting marshmallows. I go inside, Only to see Yasmine talking to Cameron. She giggles and places her hand on his chest. I can't watch no more and go back outside debating if I should leave or not, until I hear one of my favorite songs playing. I sit along til David comes up to me and says, "Hey Aubrey. How's it going?" I smile slightly and say, "Well the night is pretty, the crowd is not but me? I'm alright." He laughs and tells me, "You're funny, Who knew." I pretend to think for a moment and say, "Well apparently not you." He smirks and bites his bottom lip saying, "Damn girl and you have a smart mouth. I dig it alot. So I don't see you here with anyone. Where's your boyfriend and why did he let you go out at night alone? I know if you were my girl, I'd never let you be out alone after dark." I shake my head and say, " Well my boyfriend used to worry about things like that until I moved here." He looks at me shocked and says, "So you're single?! How come he didn't fight to keep you or do long distance relationship? I wouldn't had let you go. How long were you two together?" I mumble, "Yeah thanks. We were together for a year and a half." He looks at me like I've gone crazy and shakes his head, then says to me, "Aubrey you deserve someone that won't give up on you no matter what. Someone that will chase after you if you try to run away. You deserve so much." I blush and look the other way when he grabs my hand and asks if I would like to dance. I accept and dance with him. He stares down in my eyes and before I knew what was happening, he kisses me. Just as I was about to kiss him back, he's pulled off of me by Cameron.
