But Raven knew it was bull crap, the brutal honest truth was that he wasn't some elite guy like Lionel Montez. He was just Maximus Sanguine from the lower side of Louisville, where he was just humble guy looking after his sister and playing the game he loves so much.
Raven wanted more than the police had to offer.
She knew deep down there had to be more.
She knew her brother.
He loves this mess up life too much to throw himself off a cliff.
He had problems but not enough to kill him. He was murdered and it anger Raven that they just shoved it into a paper file and not continue to dig deep. Especially after his car was mysteriously at their apartment the next morning, does a person who commit suicide drop his car off the next morning. Someone knew something and she wasn't going to stop until she knew what the hell happen or who murmured her brother?
Raven walked confidently towards her locker, dropping her duffel bag to the ground as she spin in the number combination of her locker, just as she shrugged opening her locking by her lifting it slightly a piece of paper fell out.
She picked it up.
It reads:
I am really sorry about your brother.
L-M.
She crush the piece of paper and storm over to Lionel surrounded by his teammate, who suddenly scattered at her approach, she shoved Lionel into the locker. Lionel was six feet tall, his hair was low cut fitting his masculine built that he kept groom to attract the girls with his wide smile. He had on blue Jeans, an All-time low T-shirt with an Eddington red and white varsity school Jacket.
"What's fuck is this?" She curses into his face furious that Lionel was getting on her nerve again. She had just a few hours threw rocks in his new convertible earlier this morning when he parked in her spot and he thinks he's the boss around here, so he's suppressed to park anywhere he wanted because he was Eddington High prince charming and golden boy.
"Oh it's the B-" Lionel started but Raven fist him in the gut not letting him finish that sentence. "Stay the fuck away from my things and locker Montez!" she growled shoving him upright into the locker again.
"I swear if I see you in my presence for even a second, I'll fucking throw you off that cliff myself." She threatens, pushing him into the locker as she stuff the piece of paper into his t-Shirt before storming back to her locker. She slam it shut and storm her away out the door as the last bell sounded that last period was about to start.
Raven pulled the back of her brother car open, placing her duffel into the corner, on top of the medium container that she used to keep her snacks. The container to the left had her brother's stuff, he didn't have much.
They didn't have much.
They only had each other and that's was enough.
Now it's just her stuck out in this cold world, treading through the chaos of life.
Raven touches the container and shut the door as she turn to find Chief Armstrong. His hand etches on his hip, starring at her. His Khaki uniform was disheveled, his hat was place too low upon his head, covering his tired eyes probably from starring up late to read files or to drink away the horrid of the criminals sinful acts that he have to face throughout the day.
"Ms. Sanguine," he breathes.
"It's Raven." she snap, disgusted at the way he always choose to call her by her last name like she was some widow. "You're lucky Lionel didn't press charged. You keep making it harder for me not to lock you up." he stated, shifting the weight on his heavy body.
"Then I keep doing so until I find my brother killer. Have a good day Lieutenant" she saluted and storm away back into the school building. "Something you seem to not doing." she shouted, as she flicks him the middle finger. She flung her bag across her body as she climb the stairs that lead to the building, not caring that she almost knock over a junior.
"Watch where you going," she sputtered, after realizing that the kid was small.
Raven storm down the hallway, but stop abruptly when she came to The Loss Wall of Eddington High. There were trillion photos of kids, teachers that either gone missing, have died went mysteriously over the last six month. It was a rapid issue here in Louisville and it doesn't seem to matter. Here they just let people go and place their picture on this cracked board hoping that it fill that hole that have been carve inside their tape up hearts.
But Raven care about their stories but right now she only had one thing on her mind and that was her brother.Because there's no way in hell Max Sanguine would jump off the ridge cliff.
She kissed her index and forefinger and places it on her brother's picture before walking away turning the corner. She was angry, Hurt and beyond scattered to the point where she thought she wouldn't fly again. She just wanted the truth and that was enough to let her know that her brother didn't leave her in this dumb town willingly but someone robbed him of it. If it was suicidal where was the note? They always leave a note behind.
Isn't that the way suicidal work?
She wouldn't know she never attempted to before.
And Max Sanguine would never do that.
She knew somehow she would dig deeper.
Because lies don't sink, they float to surface hoping to ruin the utopia of its own self.
