-BONUS CHAPTER-
Detective Mario Ferguson
MARIO WALKS INTO THE CLOVER'S PASTRIES, he scans the large dinner which was actually filled to its capacity already, at eighty thirty in the morning. It was like this generation of people develops the norm to be lazy and apparently had no strength to get up and get anything done for themselves. He had just dropped off Raven at the Pizza Cubs , to do her shift and to ask her boss if she could work for the rest of the week. Since she has gotten herself suspended for the rest of the week and he won't tolerate her loitering around at the hotel or going out to get caught by the mysterious person set out to attack her but Raven was Rave.
She was a rebel without a care.
She kinda reminded him of who he was back then before his father shipped him off to his Aunt who enrolled him in a military base school. But she was way past the borderline he was threatened not to cross. "Good Morning Mr. Ferguson," A familiar voice smiled at him, his gaze fell to a dark skin woman, dress in a khaki shirt and a polo T-Shirt with Clover's Pastries embroidered on the left side above her medium size breast. Her hair was pulled back in one and wrapped around its self. Her name tag which says, Casey McKee.
"Good Morning Miss Casey," he replied with a smile.
"A little bird Tweet and told me you were coming this morning, so I saved you your favorite booth," She smiled up at him. "Is that true?" he asked, as Casey turned and lead him to the booth that was almost in the far corner of the room, where he could see everyone from where he stood.
"Yes," she nodded and lead him to the khaki leather booth. Just as he settles down with the file in his hand and covered it with it hands Casey surprised him with outlining his order.
"One Coffee - with a lot of Cream and Sugar, One Coconut Shortcake and a bottle of Springwater coming right up." Casey smiled at him and he simply nodded with a smile of his own.
"Is Brenda at work?" He asked out loud.
"Yes, Ms. Brenda is at work, she's been nervous all morning." She winks at him and strolls away happily. Mario watched as Casey walked past the place where she always places his order and went straight into the kitchen. A few seconds later a girl in a grey hoodie walks into the cafe and walks straight up to the counter, turning slightly as she hides her face. He watches as she slips a piece of towards the person behind the counter, the young girl working the counter tries to look at her face but she turns her back fully. The young reads the paper, Just as Brenda walks out with his order. The young girl hands her the note. Brenda looks up the girl as she places his order on the counter and bends down to retrieve a large Kahiki bag and a white medium size bucket.
Mario watched as Brenda hands the girl the bag which she took and the medium size bucket. before taking it the girl slips her another note and she looks towards him and the girl rushed out to the side door. Brenda turns and checks herself in the silver coffee pot before taking up his order and heads straight over to him.
Her Jet black hair was pulled into a ponytail, her tainted lips were lightly glossed as she walks towards him. Her Khaki Pant fills her hips and legs well, her Pink Polo-T-Shirt was tucked into the waist of her pant. She walks towards him with grace and strut that could make any hotblooded male stir in their seat like he was now. Her Chocolate brown eyes sparkled with glee as she smiled at him.
" Good Morning Mr. Ferguson," she smiled at him, as his heart flutters within his chest.
"It's Mario," he reminded her of the umpteen times.
"I'll call you what I like," she joins him at the table.
"Who was that girl who hands you the note," he asked.
"I don't know, It's Just that my Aunt Leah told me to always prepare a bag of Sandwiches and a bucket of hot every morning for her and It was always on the house."
"Oddly it's yours, She used to only give one note but this morning she gives two." he looks at her questioningly as she slips the piece of paper towards him, where he saw his name scribbles on the folded piece of paper. He took the piece of paper, he unfolded it and it reads;
"Thanks for protecting her...."
A ladybug sticker was paste below the sentences and right away he knew it represents Raven. But who was he protecting her from? Mario wondered as Chief Armstrong walks into the Cafe with a slim girl beside him. She had on a pair of tights Jeans and a big T-shirt with word F**CK and pink all star sneakers. "Daddy, I told I want Pizza, do I look like the kind that drinks a coffee or tea?" She questions.
"Pizza is not breakfasted!" he told.
"He had a daughter?" Mario asked.
"Yes, That's Daria Armstrong, the girl is nothing like the man you see standing there." She told him. "She's more like Raven if you ask, but Raven beats her," Brenda told him. He watches as the girl storms over towards him.
"Brenda!" she engulfed Brenda into a hug as chief Armstrong storms over.
"Hey Daria," Brenda touched her arms as she pulled her chair out and sat in Brenda's Lap snaking her arm around Brenda's neck as she reaches for my bottle of Spring Water.
"So who's the hottie you talking to?" Daria question staring at him.
"This is Detective Ferguson,"
"As in the Hot Detective who gives my father hell and has the most awesome daughter I am dying to meet?" Daria turn in Brenda's Lap
"Daughter?" he asked.
"Everyone around town talking about the man who took in Raven and she didn't retaliate." Brenda notifies him. "O," he said.
"Daria Armstrong, It's nice to meet you," she shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Daria," he said.
"Daria let's go," Her father said.
"No!, Unless you decide to take me to get Pizza."
"you know if you were like her, more people would actually like you." Mario looks up at him.
Daria chuckled. "I like him," she sips her water.
"So I heard your daughter made quite a scene at school. Dying to meet her." Daria said smiled at her. "Is that's why you want to go to the Pizza Cub?" Brenda asked.
"She works there?" Daria asked Brenda nodded.
"Alright bye, Dad," She spurts up and snaps his wallet from his pocket and storms out the door.
"I think they are going to be great friends," Brenda smiled up at him.
"There's a reason she's back in town, For friends like Raven."
"Raven is a good kid, who just doesn't believe that her brother commit suicide and I believe in her." Mario gritted out.
"That's what's wrong with you people, you keep believing in your all your illusions, even when the evidence states the truth." Chief Armstrong said.
"Maybe if you did, you'll save a whole lot more cases around here," Mario said, Chief Armstrong stares at him before he turns away and walked out the cafe. Just as he did, he stares down at the note Brenda had handed him and he wondered does this mysterious girl know who killed Max?.
And who was after Raven?
