Chapter 6:
Noah
"Hey mom back from work already?" I plant my mom a kiss on her cheek. "No I have a night shift." I check the kitchen clock, 5:00pm. "Shouldn't you be leaving?" She nods, "yeah but the hospital doesn't mind if I get there a little late, as long as I get there before 6:00pm.
I serve myself food as I meet her blue eyes. "So mom, guess who I ran into today." My mom rests her head in her hands "who?"
"Rosie Holloway."
My mom's eyes widen. "Ruby Holloway's daughter?" I nod. She pulls her hands through her brown hair. "They're in town?"
"Yeah I guess they just moved. Can you believe it though? I haven't seen Rosie since I was eight." My mom looks away, "yeah that's...great. Does she remember you?" I shake my head, "she told me she doesn't."
"I have to run honey. I'll be back at 2:00am. Bye" and she bolted out the door. That was weird.
Rosie
I went on my laptop and searched for dance studios right when I got home. There's no way I could go to Noah's house. I looked at about ten different studios until I found the right one. The phone rang and I jumped. "I got it!" Mom yells really loud. She basically rushed for the phone when I was at arm's length. I wonder who's calling. I quietly got the phone to overhear mom's conversation.
"How the hell did you get my number?" I've never heard mom so angry before. "I heard you moved into town."
"Who told you that?!"
"It doesn't matter. Ruby I really want to make things right between us. I was wrong, I realized my mistake right when you moved. Will you please forgive me?"
"Cassy how many times do I have to tell you? You hurt this family, you ruined our friendship. Now please, stop trying to locate me." Cassy? Noah's mom? I hang up the phone immediately. But why was mom mad at Cassy? I should be the mad one, at Noah. Why didn't mom say anything to me?
I shake things off and text Noah. Me: Hey found this great dance studio called Studio a Dance. Only about 20min away from school.
I go outside to the balcony and enjoy the view. What is mom keeping from me? Does Noah know? Ten minutes later, my phone buzzes. Noah: great, can't wait (:
Noah
My mom left half an hour ago for work. I'm so bored. The doorbell rings and my heart stops. For a moment I think it's Rosie, like old times. I open the door to see Ashley standing there. She's wearing extremely short shorts, making part of her ass come out and a barely visible tank top. She's also wearing a bra that pushes her breasts into my face. "Hey Noah. I thought I should come by to see if you needed company." I want to turn her down, but I'm only a guy. "Sure, come in" I step aside to let Ashley in. I sit down on the couch, Ashley sitting too close to me. I shift uncomfortably next to her. Ashley starts to cuddle with me, her hand on my thigh. She moves her hand higher and higher and I almost let her-almost. My phone vibrates which takes me out of my trance. I move away from Ashley and pick up my phone. Rosie texted me, shit! I almost fucked up.
"Ashley I think you should go." She raises an eyebrow, "really Noah? After you've enjoyed my company all summer long now you throw me out?" She stands up. "I don't need you Noah! I'm going to Cole, I'm sure he needs some company!" Ashley storms out of my house. I don't even care. She's clearly trying to get me jealous, but it will never work. She can't have my heart, because it's already taken.
