Charlotte's POV

I stood on the tips of my toes as I reached for my textbook in my locker. Being short sucked. I finally grabbed it and placed in in my bookbag.

"Charlotte!" I heard a loud shout of my name. I turned around in alarm to see Henry storming over to me.

"Hey Henry. What's-"

"We're need to talk." He said interrupting me.

"You didn't study for the chemistry test? Henry you knew about it for a-"

"Not about that."

I was really sick of getting interrupted.

"Then what?" I questioned. Henry looked around before walking away.

"Come with me to the janitors closet."

I rolled my eyes before following him. When I walked in behind him and closed the door, he wasted no time.

"Why aren't you getting the procedure?" He questioned. I was surprised by his question. How did he know about it?

"H-how do you-"

"Mark told me. Why are you getting it?"

"I don't think now is the right time to talk about this." I muttured.

"I'm coming over your house tonight. You're going to explain everything. You at least owe me that." Jace said, before walking out of the broom closet.

Charlotte's POV

"Why did you tell him?!" I shouted at Mark after tracking him down. I found him at his locker checking his phone.

"Tell who what?" He asked, staring at me with wide eyes.

"Why did you tell Henry that I wouldn't get the procedure? That was supposed to be between us."

"Charlotte sooner or later, he was going to find out. Jesus, it probably would be in the news. It's better he knows now."

I stared at him for a few moments before storming off in the direction of Ms. Shapen's class. I heard his footsteps trailing after me.

"Is it so bad that he knows that you aren't doing anything to stop this." Mark called out to me.

I stopped in my tracks. "This procedure takes away my emotions. Why would I prolong something that is bound to happen?" I said without turning around. I continued walking to Ms. Shapen's class. Only this time, I didn't hear footsteps.

Mark's POV (whoop)

I sat anxiously in the cool, leather chair. I tapped impatiently on my thigh and I stared looked around the small doctor's office. I hated coming here. I hated my situation, but what could I do? At least I'm trying to make the best of this.

I looked down at my phone to see that Charlotte still hadn't returned my texts. Was she seriously still mad?

"Mark." I perked up at the call of my name to see the nurse giving me a warm smile.

"The doctor is ready for you."

I gave her a a tight smile and walked to the back.

"Hello Mark! Nice to see you again." The doctor gave me a warm smile. I tried to return it but I'm sure it didn't reach my eyes. I was just ready to leave.

"If you'll just step onto the platform we can get started."

"Before we start," I began. "can I ask you a question?"

"You just did." The doctor joked. "Go ahead."

"Im sure you heard about the procedure to 'fix' Glitches."

"Mhm."

"How much would it affect my life if I choose to get one?" I asked, nervous.

"Well," He began. "I assume you already know that you will lose all emotion?"

I nodded.

"Besides that, there really isn't any other downsides. The only thing that holds people back is the emotion thing, but who actually needs those."

I thought about what the doctor had said. Is the only downside really loss of emotions?

Charlotte's POV

I sat alone in the Mancave as I counted the bolts. Ray assigned me this ridiculous job. Like he always does. I kept checking the clock. Henry had said he would come in at five, and it was 4:30 now. My fingers twitched as I counted and recounted the small bolts. I heard the ding of the elevator at 520.

I released a breath when I realized it was only Jasper.

"You're still counting the bolts? You started an hour ago." Jasper said stepping into the room.

"It's a lot of bolts! Ray is always assigning tasks like these." I sighed.

"Well it could be worse. I have to sit up front all day." Jasper grumbled.

I hummed in acknowledgment and continued to count the bolts.

"Hey have you heard from Henry?" Jasper questioned.

"He said he'll be here at 5." As soon I muttered the sentence, the elevator started.

"That must be him."

Henry stepped into into Mancave as he scrolled through his phone.

"There's the man of the hour!" Jasper exclaimed.

"What do you want, Jasper?" Henry sighed.

"Well...there is this bucket-"

"No." Henry said, cutting Jasper off.

"Why?" Jasper whined.

"Because buckets are boring! You're the only one that likes them!" Henry yelled.

Jasper looked him with a dejected look and turned around to go back upstairs. When he was gone I sighed.

"You didn't have to destroy his dreams like that, Hen." I joked. I looked up when Henry didn't say anything, only to find him staring at me intensely. That's when I realized.

We were all alone.

I definitely did not mean to take that month long hiatus. I just hadn't had the motivation to write anymore, but I'm back and better than ever🤗

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION. Should Mark get the procedure without Charlotte's knowledge? Also did I ever give him a last name?
