Dean's POV

My sadness over Anna is like a thumb tack in my memories. There's a constant pain in my heart from remembering the things she used to do. Like biting her lip when she was nervous. Or her constant denial of her own beauty. It made her seem so much more innocent and vulnerable than she really was. It makes me smile at how much I still love her. Even though it may not seem like it, I haven't stopped loving her ever since she left.

I started going through the drawer of photos we had. Every time we took a picture of something interesting or of us with friends and family we would develop them and put the photos in a single drawer. It is stuffed full and almost overflowing with the amount of pictures taken within the last year.

One was of her and her sisters covered in mud when we went to a nearby lake. Brett tripped Anna on their way to the water and it caused a domino effect. She landed on Julie who then landed on Christi. But they all landed in a huge mud hole. They were mad at first because everyone laughed and didn't help them out but they started to laugh at the situation too. I took a picture of the three of them and made sure to keep that one.

The next one was of her and I. We were in bed, with her dozing off. I took a picture of us on my smart phone. She always looked so peaceful when she slept. She would snore softly too. Anna was too cute for her own good. Now, I sleep in my bed alone. Missing her warmth, missing her smell, missing her everything.

It's not my fault that I cheated on Anna with Kaitlynn. No one knows this in our entire pack or even the hunters but Kaitlynn is actually half witch. Her father Jeremy, a werewolf, was mated to a witch named Calypso during the war with the witches. They kept manipulating werewolves and humans to do their biding; stealing, sex, and even murder.

Kaitlyn didn't even know about it until a few years ago. She got nosy with her family tree and caught my dad in some sort of lie. He finally let her know that back when we had the witch war, she was born from a witch. She asked where her mother was and we told her she was dead. We killed all of the witches except for her because she was part werewolf.

She took everything surprisingly well. We dated a few months later and that's when I realized she was evil. She found out how to use her powers and used them to get what she wanted with both me and everyone she ever met.

My dad was finally able to get me away from her before the situation got worse. I tried to keep my distance from her ever since. It worked until I found out Anna was my mate. Kaitlynn found out and did everything in her will for Anna and I to not be together. That's why Anna caught us together in the girls restroom at the school. She put a stupid hex on me and used me to break the mating bond between Anna and I. But the truth is I still love her, and I can still feel her love tugging on the last stand of hope that I have for us to be together.

I went downstairs to the game room and saw Brett and Brock playing COD Ghosts. They heard me come in and paused their game.

I scratched the back if my neck, "hey guys. Do you mind if I join you?"

Brett looked to Brock but Brock put his hands in the air, "it's up to you man. You guys got the issues."

Brett looked back to me and shrugged his shoulders. "I guess it wouldn't hurt." I smiled and grabbed an extra controller and all three of us started playing together.

Brett and I were getting along and laughing. I'm pretty sure we're on good terms now.

Dean. I heard my dad say through the mind link. Something's not right. I sent our omega Seth to the pack house to grab my phone an hour ago and he isn't back yet.

Don't worry, I'll check to see where he is, I replied.

"Hey, can you guys help me look for Seth? He was supposed to be with my dad an hour ago but isn't there yet." I asked.

They agreed and we went looking for him. I took the third floor, Brock took the second floor, and Brett took the first floor.

"Got nothing here!" I heard Brett yell.

"Same here!" Brock yelled back.

I was about to yell out the same thing when I stepped on something. It was my dads' phone but it was already smashed on the floor.

I walked forward with caution and saw some blood on the floor that led to a bathroom. I opened the door and saw my omega on the floor with a broken neck and a long cut on his side.

"Dean, you up here?" I heard Brett ask.

"In here." They found where I was and gasped when they saw Seth. "Go get a few lower rank wolves to, uh, clean this up. But get the males," I said to Brock.

"I'm sorry Dean."

"It's okay, it looks like it was a quick death." We were silent for a few minutes. For an omega he was pretty strong. He knew his place and didn't try to push anyone to their limit. He was also really nice. No one could stay mad at him for long. He was such a good guy.

"Hey Dean, what's this?" Brett asked picking up a piece of paper.

I took it from him and read it quickly. It was a threat from the hunters. I crumpled the note in my hand and ran downstairs with Brett on my heals. "Where are we going?" he asked.

"The practice field to tell my father what happened." And with that, the war was about to begin.
