Anna's POV
Dean's been acting strange. He's been ignoring my texts and calls and whenever we talk he's all awkward and looks very uncomfortable. I decided that if he wants to talk to me, he'll have to make the first move.
"Hello again," I heard a creepy voice whisper in my ear. I yelped and almost dropped my lunch tray on the ground. I turned around and saw Chad standing there.
"What do you want Chad?" I asked annoyed.
"I just want to know why you persistently sit with those mutts when you're not even one of them," he said putting a strand of hair behind my ear, which made me shudder in disgust, "why don't you sit with me and my brother?"
"No thanks"
"Why not?"
"Because I don't like creepy guys"
"Just sit with us once. If you don't like it, then you can sit with your pups tomorrow and I wont ask again."
"If it gets you to leave me alone, then sure," I said exasperated.
He led me to a table that was outside and sat down, "Kale, this is Montana Grey."
"Hey," he said. He looked exactly like Chad but less creepy, "Now that you're here I tell you my plan."
"Not in front of the new girl. She doesn't know anything."
"You mean the dogs haven't told her yet?" Kale asked.
"No dip," Chad thumped Kale on the head.
"We should tell her then," he said rubbing his forehead.
"Tell me what?" I was completely confused.
"What those dogs really are. I surprised they haven't told you since you are such good friends," Chad said. "They aren't as normal as you think they are."
"What so you mean? They look normal to me"
"Well you see, they change into something, uh, not human"
"What are you guys talking about?" I heard a familiar voice asked. I turned around and of course it had to be Dean.
"Just what you guys are, no big deal," Chad said.
"No you're not," he said, lifting me me up and carrying me over his shoulder.
"Put me down!" I yelled hitting his back.
"No"
"Why not?"
"Because you're mine and no one will take you away from me, especially that bastard," he said in a possessive tone, "and besides, I have a fantastic view."
I didn't know what to say back so I kept my mouth shut. When he finally put me down we were in the art room.
"Can you please tell me why Chad and Kale are telling me you're not 'human'?" I asked frustrated.
"No"
"Why not?!" I yelled getting angry. He took a step back with a freaked out expression on his face.
"Can you just trust me?"
"I don't know"
"Please trust me Anna. I'll tell you when the time comes," he begged urgently.
"Fine. I guess," I said after a couple of minutes.
The bell rang for class, so we took our usual spots in the back if the classroom and waited for everyone to get settled in. Ms. Donna told us to draw something that makes us feel special and giddy inside. I didn't know what to draw, so apparently my hand was doing it for me. I was drawing Dean even though I was upset with him.
We didn't talk for the rest of the day. It was quiet without him but I was still mad at him for ignoring me and giving me that stupid excuse. I don't know if I should even talk to him tomorrow. I might but I might not, who knows.
